When was Margarito ''the guy''?

I guess Clottey would be the guy like Baldomir was the guy before.

Baldomir who beat Judah who went 1-1 with Spinks who was the guy back then while Margarito had his title and didn't have fights with those guys.

Baldomir was legitimately the champ since he beat the champ.The since Mayweather retired threr hasn't been no one who has become the champ.
