Should be a good scrap. While it last. Smith does carry a heck of a punch as well. lets see how Beterbiev reacts to it. We know Beterbies has more pop and it will only be a matter of time before smith is KOd

Hearn has been saying Beterbiev's name the last 3 weeks during the Plant negotiations. That's why.First off, I have zero idea why Canelo gets brought up so much in these threads. He is fighting at SMW people, not LHW. That was a one off deal. Move along, nothing to see here.
This is a marketable, fun fight. Yes, I thought Smith lost to Vlasov as well. But it wasn't like Smith got blown out. It was a legit good fight. I expect this to be a blast as well. Smith cannot help who he is, and he is a ****er. He will come forward at some point to try and win the fight by throwing leather, and that is where Beterbiev lives. Beterbiev did not look great his last fight. A ton of rust, and nowhere near as active after his covid infection. He needs to be closer to his best. Smith is a professional fighter. If Beterbiev is not on his "A" game, Smith will exploit that. If Beterbiev, at 36, can get back to what makes him such a elite warrior he will unify going away. Beterbiev looking tentative and a little unmotivated like he did against Dienes? That fighter will have a much longer night....Comment

This ^. Pretty much. Although I have been known to root against fighters who have gotten gift decisions in their subsequent fights out of a desire for a kinda karmic justice I know it ain't their fault and I certainly wouldn't wish any harm on 'em.Hoping someone pays the ultimate price because they benefited from a bad decision given by three other people is a silly and careless thing to wish for. I'm glad Smith will get the payday. I'm glad Beterbiev will get to add to his legacy in what promises to be a highly entertaining fight. And I hope Vlasov gets his rematch or at least another world championship fight someday.Comment

Like Gassiev, Beterbiev seems injury prone. Almost like these two have more power than their tendonds etc. can handle. His stint with GYM and the resulting years of innactivity makes this one of those what if for me... So many good fights missed and now i'm not sure he can go a year without injury.Comment

Damn, here is Beterbiev’s honorary good fight of the decade. This guy is obviously so good and dangerous but good lord he is inactive as fck. He has a really good win in the 2010s decade in Gvozdyk and now this will be his second good fight which comes in the 2020s decade lol. I actually have Beterbiev winning this one but rooting for Joe Smith the New Yorker of course.Comment

Canelo been telling everybody that their camp wanted to fight Beterbiev in the very near future, like they are almost stalking Beterbiev, so its ON lolComment

He mentioned Beterbiev ONCE.... He has at least 2 more major fights at 164: a unification with Plant and a marketable showdown with David Benavidez. The way Alvarez fights, that is a year. Charlo wants to move up, and Alvarez, camp has mentioned him way more. If you are Alvarez, what do you want to do... make a big name come to you at 164 where you will have every advantage, or move up to Beterbiev who is knocking everyone out at a weight you are smaller than everyone?
Of course they bring up names at 175. The win over Kovalev was huge for Canelo's legacy. They want everyone to remember it. But What would you do? Charlo makes way more sense and is likely a more profitable fight as he is a North American based fighter. Canelo calls the shots here. No way he fights Beterbiev in the next 2 years.Comment
