Comments Thread For: WBA Rejects Pacquiao Request For Title Reinstatement; Ugas To Remain WBA "Super" Champ

Yordenis Ugas was denied the chance to contend for two more welterweight belts but will at least retain his own title status ahead of his next fight. BoxingScene.com has learned that a ruling handed down by the World Boxing Association (WBA) will allow the Miami's Ugas to remain in place as the sanctioning body's "Super" titlist. The decision was returned on Friday, in response to a formal appeal filed by former eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao who sought to have his title status reinstated after being downgraded to "Champion in Recess" earlier this year due to inactivity.

Not fair. Covid delayed this Spence fight. They shouldn't have given it to Ugas in the first place.

Not entirely true. Manny was offered fights and refused to fight without a crowd present. What was his excuse for taking off from July 2019 until March 2020? Other than him and Thurman, every other top welterweight has fought at least once since last year.

Ugas vs Thurman would make the most sense if Thurman is serious about wanting Spence.

No problem with that...Ugas should get the Winner! Would be great for the Division if Crawford was to fight Ugas while Spence is fighting Pacman but hey Politics and BS. Arum has his own In House Plans for Crawford I guess which is Zepeda and Taylor it seems

Pacman not getting lucky anymore from politics and boxing. Not surprise if Spence beat him in this fight...

Have to admit.... with all the sanctioning fees that this fight would have provided, expected this organization to uphold it's tradition of belittling it's image even farther by cloning the belt and giving it to him. I am surprised they did not do it.
