It could be argued but I still say no. Not until we see Canelo show those same skills against multiple future HOF'ers....which I don't even know if there are many in, and around, his weight class.
That said, I do still think Canelo is the best active fighter right now and pretty much the only one somewhat fighting his contemporaries. -

Just because he plays the role of a "boxer" doesn't mean hes better. As "bumass" golovkin and runner lara proved a good jab is enough to beat his overratedass. Marquez and chavez had both. Both also have better wins not to mention culeros best wins all have a asterisk whether its paidoff judges, catchweights, same day weigh in or rehydration clauses.Comment

better than Marquez imo
but Chavez Sr in his prime was a more complete fighter
Chavez Sr. defense is underrated, he was like Duran in a sense, in that he could be defensively sound while being a ferocious attacker at the same time
not many fighters can do that stuff today, either they're overly agressive and in love with their power, or focused on defensive and countering tactics

Canelo’s drills with Reynoso, movement, has more athleticism and acrobatics than Chavez Sr. or Marquez. Marquez was a great counter puncher, but his defense wasn’t great. From the 3, Marquez had the best pivoting technique. Chavez wasn’t into such style, and Canelo is too heavy framed for those things. I think because Marquez’s legs were so scrawny compared to his massive torso weight, he could easily pivot and shift his weight the way we like to see boxers roll under shots.
other than that, Canelo is more smooth in the ring. His movement in the GGG fight is an all time classic. That’s why he gassed out more. You would never see Marquez move around the ring like Canelo, but then again, he never faced a threat like GGGComment
