Other half and I have spoken about it at length. What folks back in the U.K. don’t fully understand is there is a massive difference in culture between the USA and the U.K. there is far more to a culture than merely the language. Peeps back in the U.K., particular sports fans, feel passionate about a rivalry with the USA when it comes to boxing. Americans don’t really care for European football because Americans have North American (USA and Canada) football which is the most popular American sport. Americans have basketball of whixh most brits are too small to play. Americans have baseball, and rounders would be the equivalent but it’s not a popular televised league sport on the level of a MLB. Boxing is literally the only means that the British sports fan can see competition with the USA. This sense of rivalry while very important to the British sports fan is non-existent with the American sports fans. It just does t exist. American boxing fans are used to having foreign fighters compete in the USA. It’s just an odd cultural dichotomy….yanks don’t think about the Brits and brits can be very cross about that.
you can see that there is a heavy degree of resentment that the fans in above comments have towards a perceived insult to Josh Taylor. “Tank and Ellerbe MUST bow down to Taylor”….
