The risk is subjective, its more about who you beat and when you beat them, then you can look at the form around the fight, winning and losing is the result its not the why.

And there is my point lots expect Manny to beat Spence so is that saying Pavlick is better than Spence, just as Manny was the betting favorite against Thurman which says a lot on its own, both are good wins but they are not what is being trumped up if he were to beat Spence and then Spence does nothing much after that its the same as Pavlick, now if Spence lost and Manny retired and Spence went on to never be beaten again and dominate higher weight classes then the win over time becomes great.
