Whenever Loma is asked who he wants to fight, in his own language, he says Davis. Why? He's the best in my division. "Tank is a beast." Loma's words. Loma doesn't give a crap about getting any belts back either. His name is big enough. He wants big fights only. Gervonta Davis is the biggest fight. Lopez is out of league here.
Kindly provide a link to an instance of Lomachenlo saying Davis is the best in the lightweight division.

It seems a misdescription to call him part of the lightweight division.

Just goes to show I have little to no idea what goes on in anyone else's head, including Lomachenko. Regardless his future plans, this is a challenging comeback fight and I'm looking forward to it

Hey, if he beats Nakatani and Tank takes care of Barrios I'd sign up for Loma-Davis any day!
Salido wouldn't take the rematch, so they moved on to Russell Jr.

Interested in this fight - although i would prefer Loam to fight either Tank, Haney, Teo, Ryan Garcia, Shakur - hopefully one these will happen next.

No matter what - Ryan Garcia (if he deals with his mental health well) will top all these guys.

His career is different than his peers of his era and the golden age era of boxing. Just combined amateur and pro. It’s a unique career.

Lomachenko doesn’t have a fancy 106-7 pro record like a fighter from the 1950s. Or a highly padded 32-2. The worst opponents on his resume are at least respectable.

Loma might end schooling or stopping Nakatani. Or he can have a tough UD due to Nakatani’s awkward style. Or Nakatani can surprise everyone and edge out Lomachenko.

He really didn’t have to take this fight. He could have chosen some comeforward, defenseless punching bag of a fighter who is outside of the top 10 at 135.
Well said. I'd say this is an ATG in the making. He's HOF already, but whether he is ATG depends on him beating a few other top names. Ukrainian boys know what they are doing and don't pick easy fights even after long lay off and surgeries. Reminds me Vitali Klitschko, who after 4 year lay off and injuries, came back and beat then prime Samuel Peters for the WBC belt. That's what champions do. No Otto Wallinses here.

I'm sure so does Loma. But I don't really see much movement from any of these guys to make fight with Loma - they all are waiting for him to exit his prime. Similar story as with GGG, except that with GGG you really risked health, with Loma - only "L".

He is definitely a pioneer in boxing. He has a historical career. He will be a boxer who other amateurs will want to copy. Instead of allowing his promoter to feed him 20 tomato cans, he put his foot down and told Arum he wants to fight good fighters right off the bat. This guy pretty much promotes himself and is his own matchmaker. Top Rank/Arum work for him, not the other way around. He does not hide behind his promoter in order to get easy money. Other fighters appear to work for their promoter. Top Rank works for Lomachenko. He is technically his own boss and calls the shots. And he doesn’t exactly pick scrubs for himself.

I think his career will end up being the gold standard formula in the future. It’s very ballsy of him but he has a unique career. His amateur background was enough for him to want to skip the training wheels/baby bottle phase of his pro career.

Go watch his interviews with the Russian chick who seems to have an exclusive with him these days. The one I remember most, he was asked who is the best in his division, direct. Names were provided. Loma didn't even pause too long before saying Gervonta Davis, then adding: "Tank is a beast." Most people on here saw it.

When did Davis become not a part of the lightweights? Or is that something you are making up?
