Both of these guys deserve credit for taking this fight - I hope it lives up to its potential. It's definitely the kind of scrap fight fans should watch so we create demand for well-matched fights. Also, it's interesting that Loma takes a guy taller and longer than himself for his comeback fight. I'm sure he has his eyes on a Lopez rematch and perhaps he sees this as an opportunity to work on breaking down a taller guy better than he did with Lopez prior to the rematch?

Either way, good matchup and whoever loses should be respected and stay in the mix. No shame in either fighter losing to a fighter of their quality. I think Loma UD12 but if he knocks him out it'd go further for securing a Lopez rematch and getting #1 p4p back.

I don't think Loma is worried about Lopez. He has moved on. It's only his fans who are attached to it and still heartbroken.

Whenever Loma is asked who he wants to fight, in his own language, he says Davis. Why? He's the best in my division. "Tank is a beast." Loma's words. Loma doesn't give a crap about getting any belts back either. His name is big enough. He wants big fights only. Gervonta Davis is the biggest fight. Lopez is out of league here.

You have to respect Lomachenko. He has a very unique boxing career. He has a boxing career that likely won’t be repeated any time soon. 396-1, 2 Gold medals, and has faced tough opponents from the start of his pro career.

His career is different than his peers of his era and the golden age era of boxing. Just combined amateur and pro. It’s a unique career.

Lomachenko doesn’t have a fancy 106-7 pro record like a fighter from the 1950s. Or a highly padded 32-2. The worst opponents on his resume are at least respectable.

Loma might end schooling or stopping Nakatani. Or he can have a tough UD due to Nakatani’s awkward style. Or Nakatani can surprise everyone and edge out Lomachenko.

He really didn’t have to take this fight. He could have chosen some comeforward, defenseless punching bag of a fighter who is outside of the top 10 at 135.

By the way, Loma agrees with my number 1.
Lopez at 3 after clearly defeating Loma? Uhhhhh what? Did you mark that down as a Loma win regardless of what the judges said?

And Davis stopped a +650 underdog in Cruz for his biggest win. It was a foregone conclusion in the eyes of most and not because Davis is that good. Cruz was just a blown up fighter.

It’s possible you aren’t seeing things for what they are.

I could get on to a long debate about how beating someone doesn't automatically make you better than them, but not now. Many things come into the picture. I believe in off nights, for example, where fighters can't get to the max due to many things. Loma had a bad night. I haven't seen anything from Lopez since. I can't rank him too high yet.

Good come back fight, am sure he would try to stop him to prove that he is ready for the Lopez rematch. Nakatani is long and Loma likes to work inside, let’s see how he navigates that.

Its not a bad fight, but there was a window there for a fight with Haney, and he didn't go for it, I think.

Fair point, he didn't avenge Salido so maybe he's the kind of guy who moves on. If he's saying those things (I haven't seen those interviews, but I have no reason to doubt what you're saying) then it'd certainly back that up. Hey, if he beats Nakatani and Tank takes care of Barrios I'd sign up for Loma-Davis any day!

Man, who drunk the Tank cool aid? People want Tank because he’s the lowest risk/ highest reward. He gets touched up in every fight against smaller, cherry picked opponents until they start to fade and then he hits them with something big, usually uppercut. This won’t work against any of the top lightweights. Even Cryin Garcia would smash him with long punches while he woofed air outta his shoulder roll. Tank is such a hype job.

they tried desperately to make the Salido rematch but it was Salido who was content to move on.
