Nah, I think he's possibly a second Josesito Lopez. Another guy who was pretty much unknown, quietly coming up, and then burst onto the scene breaking Victor Oriz's jaw and winning the title but never actually materializing into even a p4p top 10 fighter.

Depends on how the fight with Davis goes though.

I feel like Gervonta is taking on Barrios as a way to get ready for Teofimo. Similar size, height mismatch, power punchers.

I don't think he stays at 140 though. Unless everyone at 135 craps themselves and refuses to fight Gervonta afterwards.

Big risk for Gervonta. Does his power carry up? Is size too big of a issue?

This could either be a Corrales moment (Mayweather v. Corrales) or a Victor Ortiz moment (ortiz v josesito) for Gervonta, I feel like.

What i am saying is Barrios is a b-level average fighter Davis is cherry-pickn for another ppv main event mismatch!! Oh, Barrios ko’d 17 cans…he undefeated..he bigger! Oh and btw he 4-1 underdog who NOBODY is picking!! Case closed! The point about Paulie is he is pillow-fisted as they come and had 7 ko’s! So wat if Barrios has 17 kos against cans with losing records…still average power and cant hurt Davis. If Davis wants to grow a pair and risk that 0 for once - fight Prograis next! That would be near a 50/50 fight worthy of ppv $. Doubt it happens.

who of note has he ko’d?? 17 cans. Paulie Malignaggie had 7 ko’s and he is feather- fisted as they come….any fighter can stack kos against cans. Barrios has average power to go along with average speed, poor defense and footwork. Barrios does NOTHING better than Davis…hence 4-1 underdog who NOBODY is picking to win much less survive the distance!!

You're talking about Hall of Famer and in the case of Pacquaio, Duran, and Armstrong, probably top 10 all-time great fighters.

            Tank is not that.

Tank is short, undisciplined, and protected.

He should be trying to fight everyone from Stevenson to Haney, Lopez, Lomachenko, and Garcia.

He's food for Taylor, Ramirez, Prograis, and probably Mo Hooker too.
I am not comparing Davis skills or greatness to those fighters. I am mentioning notable names who were “small”. Your post appears to be arguing semantics. I can literally get any boxer of any level and my point still stands: Boxing doesn’t have height classes. It has weight classes.

That is why Tyson, Jones Jr and Corrales were all the same height but competed in completely different weight classes. Because height doesn’t matter in boxing.

As for your last sentence, yes, many fighters should be trying to fight some other fighters but they don’t for one reason or the other. The three most common reasons are contracts, networks and promotional company. Tank Davis doesn’t call the shots, he is not his own boss. Just like Haney and Garcia would more than likely have issues fighting Lomachenko and Lopez.

Luckily we have Eddie Hearn open to making Lopez vs Haney how ever it could be made (ESPN or DAZN). Tank being part of Haymon/Showtime makes him the odd man out just Like Crawford being in TR/ESPN leaves with virtually no real good opponent from 147-154.

He got the "gimp" fighting Tank! Tank got the stoppage, and Haney couldn't even get a stoppage with Gamboa coming off a KO and an Achilles tear!

Haney has 15 KOs, so I guess he's a monster? If you know boxing, you can see the difference between Barrios' and Linares' power! Linares is 35, and has been KO'd in 2019 and 2019! Ryan Garcia has decent power, but still no match for Tank yet! He talked the talk but didn't walk the walk! Barrios is a better opponent than all 3! Only Teofimo or maybe Loma, would be better opponents! I thought GRJ would be a good opponent for Tank, even @ 135, but then y'all would've killed him for fighting another "small" opponent!

Lmao…so 4-1 odds ?? Damn - guess the odds against Haney or Linares would b 10-1? That’s freaking funny! U did see Barrios last fight against a smaller guy with 7 pro fights who he struggled with and some thought lost to. There is a reason why Barrios - with all his supposed power, talent and undefeated record is the only the TENTH rated jww on this site! Big challenge and win for Davis! Should b charging $100 for this great historic ppv main event mismatch!! And btw - If Davis had fought and beaten GRJ- who called him out numerous times, he would b getting major props and alot less criticism for his recent cherry-picks and overall resume. But somehow PBC promoted GRJ wasn’t even considered….Floyd was again scared to risk that 0 against a skilled top fighter.

Lol - “coming off an Achilles tear”…or tearing ur Achilles during a fight? Wonder which one is worse and more of a handicap?? Obvious wat u ridiculously think.

That’s a great thing. Tyson was a notorious quitter/drug addict/undisciplined fighter who lost majority of his big fights
