Comments Thread For: Spence Backs Wilder To Beat Fury, Says Americans Need To Root For American Fighters

If people want to bring race into it then that’s on them. I have zero issues with any country man rooting for their countrymen.Comment

If Floyd was from Iraqistan I would still root for him.Comment

I root for a fighter based on his skill level, heart, power, speed, etc. Where they're from is irrelevant. At the end of the day Wilder is arguably 0-2 against Fury, and has not only come up with all the predictable excuses for his humiliating destruction the second time around, but he's created all new excuses as well. If Spence thinks fans are gonna root for a moron who claimed his defeat was due to a costume HE chose to wear to the ring, he might be just as delusional as Wilder.Comment

Spence is saying that Mexicans, Whites and Asians don't support Black fighters from the States even when they fight against foreigners and it's true.Comment

I understand, I just think it's dangerous behavior in sports. It ends up turning into my town, my people, my color. I'm good with all that. If this was like WW2, different story. But in sports, I don't care if you're from my side of the pond or not.

I root against Hatton when he fought TBE because am a TBE Stan. As long as you are not only rooting for someone based on the colour of their skin then am fine with that.
My father loved Sugar Ray Leonard, he got my watching him when I was 6 years old and I became a stan of his, as you can see from my username. So I personally couldn’t care less about race or skin colour.
That’s why when I see mostly those PBC stans on here bringing race into everything I just shake my head at them.Comment

I get that, but in sport people can root for their countrymen/women. The issue like I have pointed out earlier is people have different representations of that. I saw a lot of Americans who root for Pacman against TBE, those Americans were born and bred in America, who are of Filipino descent.
