I believe it's somewhat of a jinx to bring identity politics and so on into anything....a fighter usually goes down from there. And why is Spence telling fans to root for a fighter because of where he's from? Everybody knows Wilder sucks and he arguably ruined an Undisputed HW bout between two of the better fighters in the division.

Didn't Wilder start all of this "Til this DAY!" nonsense a couple of years back and looked like crap since? Stop trying to pull on people's heart strings and play on their anger, it's weak and lame. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Good is good and evil is evil.

Just shut up and fight. Everybody wants to be a freedom fighter and it's cringey at this point. It usually means, "I'm not good at what I do and everybody around me that excels only does because of their race, gender (whatever that is nowadays) and/or place of residence." I'm just spit-balling here.

If Wilder wants our support, then he needs to listen to his team, train consistently and own up to his faults while giving us good performances. That's what's wrong nowadays...nobody wants to be wrong or look like the lesser man, so they'd rather virtue signal for validation. Pathetic.

Wilder lost me when he started seeing himself on the level with Ali and Tyson!
That speaks volumes about long and deep rooted issues in the American psyche and that’s exactly what Spence is talking about. I can vividly remember white Americans telling me how much they wanted to see macgregor beat Mayweather because everyone knows I’m a boxing fan. They always got surprised when I told them Mayweather would win and that I was rooting for Mayweather. I am the most Irish looking *** ever because my blood is almost totally Scottish, Irish, and welsh in ancestry. I’m not Ashke****, and only a small percent Sephardic. When they found out I was supporting Mayweather the answer was always the same, “well i support macgregor because I’m Irish” was the response. I would always ask them the counties in Ulster, or the ethnic differences between Protestants and catholics in Ireland or what area of Ireland their ancestry came from, what made someone Anglo-Irish, and or if they spoke Irish Gaelic or not, and none of them could answer any of those questions.
boxing is tribal, that is clear. For me personally there are exceptions, Nigel Benn is my favourite fighter of all time….I rooted for him against anyone, same with Frank Bruno, same with Lloyd Honeyghan, Andy Holigan, Chris Eubank, Chris Pyatt, or Troy Waters from Australia, Felix Trinidad, etc etc.

Youtube BERNARD HOPKINS what happened when UK fans saw him - EsNews Boxing

you'll find similar things for Ward, Floyd, Tyson etc .. (Shannon Briggs is practically a UK institution) on youtube anyone not currently with Al Haymon because those fighters mostly only fight other LDBC'ers in the States so no one cares about them.

If you want credit as a boxer fight everyone from around the world ... instead of worshipping at the feet of Al Haymon.

I don't get this. Boxing is an individual sport, I support the guys I like. I'm English, and the five boxers I support the most are Tyson Fury, Canelo, Golovkin, Crawford, and Gervonta Davis. I don't care if they are from England, America, or Mars, I like who I like.

Nothing wrong with supporting the more local fighter but I bet Spence wouldn’t put a dime of his own money on a wilder win!

Orrrr I root for Fury because I've been rooting for him since 2012 and knew he would be the best HW around.

This is the truth right here. It kills me when race, nationality or geographic location is what a person picks to become a fan instead of simply enjoying what they do in the ring and in some occasions out of it. If a fighter has the wow factor no matter it is I'm intrigued by them. Most so called boxing fans aren't really boxing fans though. They are more like groupies.

every other country supports their fighters except in America. If a American was to fight outside the country you will never see Americans pack out a foreign country arena like other countries do when they come to America.

for instance when mayweather fought Ricky hatton in Vegas you would have thought they was fighting in the UK.
