  • The problem with Shakur Stevenson is he’s great

He’s one of the best boxers in the sport already.

    Thats why he’s boring.

    No one can touch him.

That means there isn’t any drama for an hour long main event.

Everyone will complain but that’s what happens in boxing when someone is really really good.

It's not just that. He didn't throw combinations and has a weak straight left. Hard to entertain that way

He's just the absolute worst watch in boxing right now. Just steps back and out of range of everything, while only throwing one shot at a time himself because he won't commit enough to risk getting hit. Plus his personality and arrogance is off-putting too.

he and Haney are the new Steve Johnston and Paul Spadafora. We never got to see that Mosley vs Johnston fight while both were champions at 135. So 135 has been on some bs since the late 90s

He might end up being great but he can't be in there with overmatched opponents anymore.

Because the ESPN crew told you so? You/they might be right but doesn't he have to fight at least one quality opponent first?

Every network does it but not to the level of the ESPN crew and even then they kiss Stevenson s a$$ more that the other ESPN fighters. Ball washing on the level of Jim Lampley.

                  It’s exactly what I explained.

                  He doesn’t get touched.

Its incredibly rare that someone can be in a boxing ring for 12 rounds and avoid punches the way he does.

He’s great and that’s why his fights are so boring.

This is more nonsense. You guys hate on fighters according to who their promoters are. Floyd was a Top Tank fighter and built his early success with Arum, as did Oscar and Manny among many others. PBC fighters outside of Spence are still fighting for crumbs.

This was Shakur’s 16th fight. Floyd fought Cuello who was 20-7 for his 16th fight. It went the full distance in a snoozer where Floyd was deducted a point for hitting after the break.
