Wow! Has that happened before-ref throwing the towel back?

It over Ritson is done. Weird what's with the ref not stopping the fight when Ritson's corner threw in the towel.Last edited by TJ highway; 06-12-2021, 05:08 PM.Comment

I think the ref saw the audience had never been completely taken out of it. Spurts of singing here and there. Even after the third knockdown some people were complaining. Had to let Ponce erase all doubt.
And to answer a question above, it has happened before. Not common but it’s the rules. It’s up to the ref or doc to stop it.Comment

The referee doesn’t have to accept the Rowell but I never understood why one would reject it of the corner is looking out for the welfare of the fighter. This is definitely something boxing needs to reevaluate. Throwing in the towel should definitely end a fightComment

Sometimes it's justified but in this case Ritson was absolutely done... there was no way back and he was just taking punishment.Comment

Was trying to tell people about Ponce a bit but I didn't think he'd be this dominant. Strange ending though. Ref a big Vazquez fan/backer maybe?Comment

I completely disagree. No one knows the fighter like his trainer. If his trainer has seen enough a towel should end the fight. It should be an unwritten rule to prevent towels being thrown in by an inebriated trainer in the first round as a joke.Comment
