Naw, I don't think anyone really knew much about him before the fight was announced. And I think everyone who said they were picking Ponce was more picking against Ritson due to his Vazquez performance than backing Ponce himself. I believed in Ponce and bet on him, but I'd only known about him for like 2-3 weeks and only became a fan after watching his fights for research during fight week.'

I meant to say this way earlier. He was probably seen as a live dog by most but not as obvious or as unanimous of an underdog pick as Pedraza was against Rodriguez later that night.

Ritson lost to Vaquez last time out. No one was thinking big things were going to happen for him. He hasn't had any momentum for years. His feet are poor and is very susceptible to body shots. He just doesn't take them well for some reason. I think everyone was picking Ponce. He's the one who had all the momentum coming in. It was to be expected. This is most definitely not a shock.

Just watching this now. Jesus Riston would have gotten his **** pushed in against Josh Taylor.

He has moved up to 140, and seemingly lost all of the size and strength advantages he had over opponents at 135. He can't box, and he doesn't like it when an opponent applies pressure and fights back. Very little optimism going forward, was a joke Eddie Hearn managed to even get him in position for a "Wurl'" title eliminator, Ritson having won a close fight over Robbie Davies Jr. which could have been scored a draw, and then losing to Miguel Vasquez but being gifted a robbery win. Justice prevailed last night though!
Do you have a link to the scores?

Warrington and Ritson had big things ahead of them in 2020, and 2 relatively unknown fighters came to the UK, and not only won, but beat them into submission! That's what I meant when I said, "not again."

    Strange comment.

Ponce was the favourite for pretty much most over here. This isn't an upset. The Hurd loss was though.

By kicking out the towel, you think the ref was helping him? It's a law you idiot. Refs can make that decision. I don't agree with it. But it's legit.

Corners need to step into the ring if they want to stop a fight, not throw the towel.
