The first half of the 1980s in which Larry Holmes reigned was considered by most boxing scholars and historians as one of the weakest eras in Heavyweight boxing history. Larry Holmes as great as he was; Was always underappreciated because he lacked the necessary charisma as he would always walk in Muhammad Ali's shadow.Aside from the four guys mentioned, but particularly Fury and Joshua, it's a very poor heavyweight division. The worst era was the Klitschko's, although Vitali was quite underrated.
There was a period there when Larry Holmes was champion when the contenders weren't top notch, but he was an excellent boxer with a great jab and skill.
Which is why Sugar Ray Leonard and the welterweight division emerged as the new Muhammad Ali and glamour division of boxing during that era. It wasn't until Mike Tyson emerged in the second half of the 1980s that put the Heavyweight division back on the map again.Comment

Officially only lost one fight, I've said many times that he should have lost the first, and in my post I claimed fury was the top heavyweight of this generation... So bias.Comment
