DAZN is the future

Not sure about DAZN being the future but of course Streaming APPS is not only The Future it is the NOW/CURRENT as seen with Netflix, HBOMAX, Disney+...
As for DAZN itself...with a lot of us Americans, basically we don't care about anything outside of the US and for a lot of us if it is not Big here in the States then it is just not big and it can't be successful which is indeed a ignorant mindset.
Premier and La Liga have some of the highest Paid Athletes in the world at the top of Forbes list every year and neither is remotely popular here in the States. So for DAZN, even without being big in the US Market, the World is more than just the U.S. but this is a huge and very rich market so of course you would LIKE to be big here in the States but they just don't have the Content to drive up American Subscriptions and Boxing alone is NOT popular enough to get them a huge subscription base in America. They needed the rights to NFL Content to be big in the U.S. and they just couldn't get it this time around unfortunately, instead ESPN+ Backed by Disney won the NFL Stream Rights.
As for Boxing, because not all of the top fighters are under one banner, it is just going to be impossible to Eliminate PPV's and make everything a month subscription on a APP. Not unless All the Major Promoters come to some sort of Agreement to do such a thing. PPV's will continue to happen probably more now than ever with these Networks now able to profit more off of it because they're able to get it Direct to Consumer now which means more money to for them.
DAZN does have a great chance to do well Globally but it won't be for Boxing it will be more so for Futbol!Last edited by sicko; 06-10-2021, 05:36 PM.Comment

Well that goes without saying. Of course it's good for us because we are boxing fans but what about those non boxing fans who don't follow boxing? Well how do you reach that audience if they cant see or even notice you fighting underground on the web without the use of television?

Streaming & apps are the future...idk that DAZN is the future doe lol.
I suspect DAZN will get purchased by a bigger competitor & made a part of Disney+ or Amazon Prime one day is the more likely endgame for them & their owner.Comment

I think dazn dropping Golden Boy says more about Golden Boy than dazn
Canelo sued and GB let him walk, how badly did you **** up to have to let the biggest star in boxing walk from a contract, and he went right back to dazn.
My biggest issue with dazn (in Australia) was lack of content, it was a no brainer to get anyway value wise just for the big fights, but I would still watch more boxing on other platforms as they had local fight nights, various UK and US fights. But with Matchroom coming to Australia, Italy, Canada, Spain etc in addition to UK and US they should have a solid schedule now.
As time goes on and people get savvy is there really going to be a huge market for $70+ PPVs long term? I see it as like music and movies, you don't beat piracy by raising the price and playing whack a mole with streams, you beat it by making it convenient and cheap enough that most people can't be bothered pirating anymore.Comment

I like certain elements of it but I’m not convinced it will be all that successful. They’ve already had major struggles and they’ve only been in the boxing business 5 minutes. They’ll possibly learn from their mistakes and be successful from here on out but I’m not convinced they’ll be involved in boxing long term tbh.Comment

Not for nothing, Top Rank was the first finance their own streaming platform and has been streaming their undercards for almost a decade. Similar production to what you see now on ESPN, it's like an extension of their in house production group that was doing those streams...but it had Col bob Sheridan and Christina Poncher as commentatorsLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 06-10-2021, 07:53 PM.Comment
