THANK YOU. I was about to type this but you said it already.
One other thing: I prefer PPV over a subscription model like DAZN. Because I dont want to subscribe to something monthly and be 'attached' to it without even watching anything on it for a whole month.
With a PPV, we can get together and buy the PPV, and many of us watch it together on the same TV screen.
with dazin is because it removes boxing from the people. The best thing that can happen to boxing is more exposure on free tv and basic cable/established sports station apps. Dazin is a good idea for the boxing fan but it DOES NOT grow the sport at all.Comment

But you recognise that in a comparison between the DAZN subscription model and the PPV model for this fight, the barrier to entry for this fight is much, much higher. When you talk about attracting the new fans or the casual viewer, who out of those is paying 70 bucks to watch a name bash a nobody?
PBC was originally predicated on the idea that it would not do PPVs precisely for the reasons you cite, yet have begun to do a sequence of weak-ass match-ups as PPVs. And here we have Showtime with a totally uncompelling matchup at a whopping great price.
We are already at a point in time when streaming services with subscription fees is becoming something like the norm across the whole spectrum of entertainment and that is only going to become more normal with time.
You do raise a valid point that all of these promotional outfits need to be thinking about how they build new names in the sport and entice general sports fans to become interested in these fighters. Social media is one method. I'm surprised fighters don't try and get themselves on non-sports shows more often, just to get themselves well known.
One of the ways Joshua got so well known in the UK -- alongside his boxing exploits -- was by appearing on shows like Top Gear and Graham Norton. That's how you reach the casual.Comment

The fight is a freak show, it's not really compelling. Even if lightning hits the outhouse, and Berrios KOs Tank, it probably isnt KO of the year, Tank isn't a real Jr welter. I'll shop for next time, this one has a prefab look to it.

The man has damaged you. It’s like he bit you and now you have Hearn rabies. We all know you a bit of a racist, your issue isn’t his colour is it?Comment

I don't know anybody under 30 that even has cable. It's all streaming. Personally, I love it when PBC puts a decent fight on regular over the air FOX. It lets me relive my childhood (when I used to watch boxing on Wide World of Sports). Otherwise, everything I watch is either live streamed or downloaded. And I'm old.Comment

Nailed it, both of you. My main problem
