My only problem I have with the WBC and especially Mauricio Sulaiman is that he is partial in favor of the Mexican fighter in particular and fair skinned Euro fighters in general like: Canelo Alvarez and Vasiliy Lomachenko as its Franchise champions.

I don't have an issue with specialized versions of belts or trophy belts. They're not new titles. There is no such thing and will be no such thing as a WBC Freedom champion just like there is no WBC Mayan champion even though Fury won a Mayan belt. It's a trophy not a title.

        Floyd's got a few

        Canelo has a few

No one cared until Franchise came out and now any belt with a name is rebuked like as if it's franchise. It's just a belt. The title is the WBC world title. **** all to do with Franchise, Silver, Diamond, or any other bull**** title because it's not a title.

There's literally no reason to give a ****.

You have a great point, but only REAL diligent fans of the sport know everything you just explained, the problem is a great MAJORITY of spectators of the sport have no clue of all that. They just see a multitude of belts, and mistake them 'reward' belts for actual legit champ belts. That's the problem.

At first I was against all these recently “made up” belts but Now that I think about it. It accomplishes what SHOULD MATTER. The belts are flooding the boxing market. Making them ALL WORTHLESS, cause their no longer UNIQUE and rare.
Their just forcing the more important issue. The best BIG NAMES fighting the best BIG NAMES.

                      I'm not sold.

Why would I cry over this one-off that'll be there for one fight and won't even get carried to the ring for the next fight the winner takes part in when everyone has got some kind of regional title? You're telling me a fan can just look at the EBU blue and know it's a regional? The Ring title and know it's promotional? WBO Global champion sounds like a different way of saying World champion doesn't it? IBO belts, ain't even got to validate just mention.

I get where this comes from, I got friends too ya know. Sometimes someone will be by and reckon something like a franchise is a real but I don't ever see any distinction from casuals or ignorant folks. It's always belt=champ until explained to them. Franchise, the EBU Blue, and any other small time because it's regional or small time because it's unrecognized belts all get equated to world champ status by people who know no better.

I'll say it like this, those who know the WBO Global is a regional championship not a global or restated world title but also believe the WBC Franchise or WBA Regular or hell the IBO titles are legitimate world titles have to be such a small demographic you're talking about like my grandpa and that's it

The only belt any non-boxing head ever questioned in my presence is the Ring belt and that's because it doesn't look like what people picture in their heads when they think championship belt. Anything colored leather with a precious metal plate gets by folks as championships and we've had regionals for a long time.
