i would def pay 100 to see that fight. I been to very few fights because the elite level fights the prices are historically outrageous. only really been to regional level fights because they are affordable.

That's what I was thinking when I did the math on it. 136 for a fight of that magnitude would be a steal.

Stadium ticket prices are set to fill the stadium. They could easily up the ticket prices and make more money if they wanted to. Look how much Brits spend for tickets in Vegas.

Also depends on what currency you use. Back in 2008 the £ was worth almost 2 $. So Joshua-Klitschko made more £'s.

Yeah I know much about the UK numbers, don't know much about the Joe calz v Bhop live gate numbers. But usually those 80k numbers doesn't mean they make more live gate than Vegas gates.

Yeah, that's why largely stadium fights are avoided for big fights. But for Canelo/BJS, putting it at Cowboys stadium was the right call. If you have Canelo vs GGG or another big name, obviously you go to Vegas if possible.

he's right. vegas gates are 10-15k seats but they absolutely dwarf "stadium fights" in gate numbers.


for some perspective, joshua and klitschko did less at the gate than a washed up bernard hopkins and joe calzaghe did in las vegas. really. go ahead and look it up.

additionally, in vegas they pay YOU to host your fight there. you pay the stadium. the casino pays you. and they make it all back on the tables in 2 nights and get free publicity for months. and if there's a "viral" moment, like a knockout, they get their logo splattered all over the ropes and canvas for eternity as the video circulates.


vegas is the be all end all of boxing. it's the highest concentration of 4 star hotels in the world. there is no more neutral or better suited venue in the world for a big fight.

Yeah I think the Wlad v AJ fight probably made a little more than 12m dollars when the rates were converted in those days, but the fact that even the big name UK fighters like Hatton use to want those Vegas fights show why, Vegas money is something else, especially if you have fans that are backing you everywhere.

Canelo draws more attention because he isn't a boring fighter and listens to his fans if he hears boos he steps it up and also his masterful technique skills breaking opponents either boxing or by force when they bring it to him. AJoshua is similar but Fury isn't Fury is a boring fighter even Wilder and A Ruiz and Parker and so many they'll worth watching, only reason I watch Fury is when he's fighting someone interesting

Be interesting to see what a big fight in the new Vegas stadium does gate wise, might be a bit of a win-win, can hold 65K and also cash in on the Vegas premium people seem willing to pay.

Sort of surprised Fury v Wilder 3 isn't in there, would they not be able to fill it? Or would people not pay the tens of thousands for good seats in a stadium like they do in an arena with only 20K capacity?

For people like Canelo and Joshua, who are making basically tens of millions for each fight from broadcasters, you'd leave a couple million on the table to fight in front of 70 to 90K people, those are the things that endure and become legend, just ask Carl Froch.
