Before that it was Tyson v Pinklon Thomas at the Lad Vegas Hilton.
now having thought about all this it’s been a good 30+ years since I was love at ringside in Vegas, I do think in the next year or so I will get back to a big Vegas fight with the missus....thank goodness she’s also a boxing loving Brit.
This whole thing is a complete an utter lie

Those are good numbers, but you don't typically generate the most money in those stadium fights.

Canelo also makes money from other networks in Mexico… but strictly sticking to this gate here, considering the pandemic, that’s a very respectable figure for the pound for pound. Guarantee canelo vs plant for undisputed beats it that in Vegas!

Just goes to show attendance and live gate dont necessarily perfectly correlate with each other. Still its not a bad number.

Imagine what clenelos numbers and live gate would be if she ever decides to fight somebody that's a threat.

The crazy thing for me is just how much those Vegas gates are, Golovkin 2 was $1500 average, jesus christ, what would that mean "cheap" seats are what $500, good seats are $10,000+ ?

Better to have a filled 70K arena then a mainly empty one like Mayweather v Paul, thats never a good look, no matter what the gate.
A lot of them are not used to stadium sort of numbers. 17k in Vegas would make more in money than a 70k stadium in Texas. As you have pointed out ticket prices dictated everything and those stadiums have super cheap tickets.

It’s about fans been able to witness an event like that live and generating a crazy atmosphere for that event. Vegas is more for the corporates with minimum atmosphere due to their celebrity status.

Spot on…. Attendance doesn’t necessarily means more money from live gate. Joshua usually do 80k attendance here but live gate is still smaller than a Vegas fight that has 17k attendance.

10 million dollar gate during the pandemic is nothing to scoff at. may very well be the biggest gate of the year unless fury and wilder actually fight.
