andre ward...are you serious? he was mediocre at boxing. whenever challenged he resorted to wrestling and fouling because he didnt have the boxing tools to cope with opponents with good skills. this dates all the way back to his olympic run as well. you can see he just simply holds and hits when hes unable to establish boxing dominance. did the same thing in many pro fights as wellComment

hes not 5'8 hes only slightly taller than hatton who is 5'6. you can see that when they are both wearing socks at the weigh in hes less than an inch taller. hatton himself said he is 5'6. floyd should use this as a marketing tool "look how short and small i am and im out here beating bigger guys!" but hes insecure so he lies like most guys do myself included!Comment

I respect you mate you’re one of the best posters on here for my money.
I just totally disagree.
I think Toney’s obviously a skilled fighter that is not up for debate but he has too many holes in his game and weaknesses to be considered up there with the other great technicians of the past.

It’s cool man, we can agree to disagree…

Also, counter-punchers don't often throw series of jabs.Floyd had a 72" reach and from 130-154 he really didnt have anyone with equal or greater reach in those divisions. You base your style around your physical attributes and his style was based on his reach. He was a good inside fighter but he didnt develop a tactic for rangier fighters because he never fought one.Comment

I agree ecxept for Ward who btw is one of my favourites just cause I've never seen a one handed fighter without power to be so so successful. The use of his lead hand, his clinching, framing, use of head are very useful.Comment

I cant easily find reaches on some of those but corrales had shorter reach than floyd. oscar only has 1". Even most taller guys floyd had the longer reach.
Yeah like the other guy said connor had a longer reach.
It was a real rarity for floyd to face someone with a longer reach than him. Oscar also likes to hunch over and makes that 1" reach negligible. Plus his back is wider than floyds so actual arm length is probably shorter.Comment

Nearly every fighter his entire career had weight on him. He was SMALL, everyone had 10+ pounds on him. JMM is the only confirmed smaller guy on fight night I can even think off off the top of my head. Even zab and pac weighed more than him on fight night. Hes been retired for 6 years and can still make 147 without a training camp. He didnt give up reach but he gave up weight.
Thats why I could never see him as "TBE"
How do you call yourself the best P4P when every opponent was either shorter or had short arms/reach. When was the last time Floyd had to work his way inside against a good tall elite boxer? Probably the closest was Oscar de la hoya, and even then I think Floyd had longer arms + Oscar never fought tall. SRL managed to do it against Hearns, and even guys like Donny Lalonde. Pacquiao's done it his entire career.
It seems silly to punish someone for their attributes. Are we going to downrate him because of his natural speed? What about Furry should we downrate him because he never had to work his way inside a taller opponent, how is that his fault if he is the tallest in his division. You have to go up to like 160-168 before average reach starts to be equal or more than floyds 72". I dont see people downrating Ali saying how come he didnt fight someone faster than him.
You base your style on your physical attributes. Shorter guys with less reach incorporate the bob and weave like tyson and pac. Almost every ATG is going to have a combination of skill plus some kind of genetic attributes, whether that be speed, power, chin, reach ect.
