Floyd Mayweather DOES NOT have a Double Jab

Or no confidence in throwing it. When facing a bigger, rangier opponent and you want to back them up you use high guard, head movement and a double jab kinda like Mike Tyson, like Loma, like Pacman. In his two fights against Conor and Logan Floyd showed a technical deficiency in his arsenal, no double jab to back up the bigger man. That's why it was so hard for him to close the distance. Once his incredible speed and reflexes wore off he has to rely on fundamentals and IQ. One fundamental is the double jab. So is Floyd the best technician of all time or nah?

James Toney is possibly the best pure technician of all time IMO.

He rarely used his jab upstairs IIRC in his later fights. Not as much as pure boxer usually does anyway. I think he preferred it to the body

Floyd doesn't throw a double jab in old age and in pretty sure that he never used it a lot when he was younger either because Floyd rarely cared to back up his opponent instead choosing to rely on footwork and defense before moving in for the kill.

The reason why high guard was effective against Connor and presumably Logan was because most people with little boxing knowledge know how to effectively navigate a high guard defense.

if Floyd is gonna back up his opponent his go to is a solar plexus jab. Dude used it all the time. Other ways he "backed up" opponents was to make them hesitant using counters like his pull counter for example.

the guys you listed, Tyson, Loma, Fury, are all dudes that want to engage and no fight on the outside. These dudes are all mid range fighters. Floyd? Dude fights on the outside.

Floyd had a 72" reach and from 130-154 he really didnt have anyone with equal or greater reach in those divisions. You base your style around your physical attributes and his style was based on his reach. He was a good inside fighter but he didnt develop a tactic for rangier fighters because he never fought one.

Yeah but he couldn't fight Logan and Conor from the outside, could he? So to cut it short Floyd wasn't all around or all terrain fighter. So just pointing this out for simpleton like yourself
