How clearer do you need it to be!?
Wilder needs Fury to validate his dwindling career and Fury is only about money despite his ‘I’ll fight anyone’ narrative. The fact that he said he’d bare knuckle fight AJ BUT only if he they put up 20 million! Says it all.
For years, Joshua has ONLY pushed his narrative about being the undisputed champion.

Don't know why people are still talking about AJ-Fury and acting as if Fury is ducking or Arum lied. By Hearn's own interview, he was "surprised" by the decision particularly since the arbitrator gave a deadline by which to have the rematch. So, if Arum thought it won't be a problem, his opinion was only as good as Hearn's own. Secondly, Arum had explicitly written in the contract that AJ-Fury was dependent on this outcome. That is clear enough. How can you claim they are lying when they gave you something in writing?
To think that Hearn got played with or lied to is to say that AJ's manager and Eddie Hearn's legal team are a bunch of schoolboys who have no idea what a contractual rematch clause is and the different ways it can go. They (Arum and Hearn and the two respective boxer's teams) all took a calculated risk to start negotiating, hoping that a favorable decision will come. If Hearn went on to overpromise his Saudi investors, that's on him. He's just using the "Arum lied", and "Fury did not want it" narrative to further his popularity and somehow calm the Saudi investors into not thinking he goofed up the entire thing.
After all, promoters are nothing more than marketing people that will sell you crap in a splendid wrapping. If AJ and Hearn are real, they will make the fight after Fury get's out of his legal obligations. Or, if Wilder wins, offer him a similar 50-50 fight as they did with Fury. It won't take us long to find out who was lying and who was not.Comment

Yes, Hearn should understand what a contractual rematch clause is, but if Arum is saying repeatedly there was an expiry date which he, with his legal experience, considers expired and also was feeding Hearn information that the arbitration was going well, that the judge was listening to their arguments and receiving them well, etc, that is entirely different to what emerged as the reality.Comment

One and two was clear once AJ lost by practically everyone.
Also fury is the only person in this era to get the ring title and twice. Nobody else did that even when he retired.
Counting these alphabet bodies essentially means that you could have up to 40-top ten contenders and this is just ludicrous.
Slice it up whichever way you want, someone is not undisputed champ when there is a unified champ in the same division as them. What you are considering as undisputed is not the same as just about everyone else recognises as disputed. If Fury fought Joshua, the winner would be regonised as undisputed champ by everyone.
And even accepting your definition, and purely going by the Ring rankings, then Fury is Champ and Joshua is number 1 contender and people are celebrating Fury fighting the number 3 guy who he has already definitively beaten rather than fighting the number 1 contender.Comment

[QUOTE=Monty Fisto;n30939404]
Hearn could not possibly have been privy to the goings on of the Fury legal case in the same way as Arum. To say Arum's opinion should have been only as good as Hearn's, therefore, cannot possibly be true. Arum was clearly better positioned to know what was going on. Hearn was just viewing it from the outside and therefore reliant to some degree on what Arum was telling him.

So you're saying that Arum duped Hearn, or that Hearn is an imbecile, or both. In any case, from this point forward Hearn has zero credibility.Comment

If they hadn’t pursued the Fury fight this place would claim he was terrified, would basically have been lambasted for whatever choice they didn’t make.
Bit like how not accepting a 50m offer without a single detail is a flat out duck yet Fury wanting proof of funds was simply smart business.
Or Wilder not signing because of a venue isn’t ducking or even admitting to turning down a better offer to fight Fury isn’t ducking.
The double standards and hypocrisy regarding Hearn and AJ is laughable.

The double standards and hypocrisy regarding Hearn and AJ is laughable.like that even makes any sense. Lovejoy just fought Charr under legal threat from Don King. That legal threat had zeros to do with Team Charr and the fight went ahead as scheduled, it’s not like you are interfering with a boxers promotional status or anything.
If that boxers Team says he is free to negotiate or fight then you usually go by their word, you don’t demand proof for every boxer that you negotiate with in regards to any legal issues. So whether Team Joshua knew about Fury’s arbitration is purely irrelevant. Not sure about the level of education, that the ones that are asking though question have, but it must be pretty low.Comment

This is a fair response. Problem is though, I think I can remember arguing with either you or REDEEMER when Bob ws saying arbitration wouldn't be an issue that he wasn't to be trusted. So, in a way, you seem as naive as Hearn apparently is.
So all you weird posters who wanted Wilder to fight Fury got your wish now you can wait another 4 months or so if the fight happens at all a waste of real fans time . HaLast edited by REDEEMER; 07-12-2021, 09:27 PM.Comment
