Nonito rode on Manny’s hype due to being Filipino. He’s a good boxer but never special. Arum managed him very well until he started getting beat up.
donaire has had a better career then them even though he lost head to head. do you think jimmy young is greater than foreman? turpin better than sugar ray? horn better than pac? etc...also donaire was well past his prime when he fought frampton. not really a fair comparison.

Don't know why Donaire gets so much flak. Dude fought good fighters and lost when he went up in weight daring to be great. He didn't get blown out by Godzilla and gave a good fight and goes and wins a title again at 38. At those weights those guys don't last as they get get older.

People were happy for Nonito. That he's able to have this longevity in the sport is pretty amazing. Oubaali was never anything special but he was the favorite. I haven't seen anyone say he's some ATG that is unbeatable, just that he's a 1st ballot hall of famer -- and rightfully so.

I don't think he is overrated here, just very well-liked by the majority of posters.

Doesn't hurt that he seems like a genuinely good guy.

Neither here nor there on Donaire. I think he was massively hated on for a period of time, his loss to Rigo was very well celebrated - I think some of that was bc of HBO/Top Rank affiliation and some of that may have been just genuine unbiased frustration with some proclaiming him p4p #1 at the time. I don't know. I think he's a good fighter who's done well for himself, fought some quality guys, sometimes won, sometimes lost. I think for him to still be a solid fighter at his age at the lower weights has to be respected. Otherwise I'm not that impressed with his best wins being over guys he taller, longer, faster, and physically bigger than.
