Hearn didn't sound happy about Usyk and if it was, it would have to be in the UK. He mentioned lots of names before he got to Usyk, even Ruiz 3 in the US.

Then AJ loses a belt. He cannot hold it hostage.

Ortiz is high risk low reward now. Casuals have seen him lose 2x to wilder who has himself lost. There’s a big mouth out there with an interim belt made of recycled Pepsi cans who should want the fight - but he’s a big game hunter with Arreola in his bullseye

Allegedly Hearn said that they might vacate as a business decision.

Aj will have to defend the WBO belt, so it doesn’t matter what he or anyone else says or he will have to vacate the belt and that’s the bottom line

If Joshua ends up fighting Usyk then Joyce will need an opponent. Ortiz should fight him instead.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Eddie Hearn does decide to go in that direction. Besides, Usyk is a much tougher opponent for AJ. He was never prepared to fight him in the first place. This Wilder/Fury III decision had totally caught Team Joshua off guard and by surprise.

Eddie Hearn did refer to options when it came Joshua's next opponent. He mentioned a bevy of names first beginning with Andy Ruiz, Jr in the states before ever getting around to Oleksandr Usyk. He sounded quite evasive when it came to fighting Usyk if one were to ask me. Who knows? He still may be on top of Eddie Hearn's wish list. However, I just don't believe that Team Joshua were prepared to fighting him next or right now. Which was why Eddie Hearn had requested that extension with the WBO.

Ortiz was saying the same thing a few years back..up until the fight was actually offered to him.

Eddie would never do that. He wants to preserve both Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte from receiving another L on their records. He would never pitch those two against each other at the moment. If AJ does vacate the WBO belt then there is nothing more that Hearn would love to do than to take that WBC belt away from the winner of Wilder/Fury III to challenge Whyte as their mandatory challenger.
