  • i luv the guys on here that are giving cotto no chance at all,how ******ed can some people get?
i feel the longer the fight goes the more chance manny has of winning, cotto should try and take him out in the first 8 rounds or he could be in trouble,i feel he has the power too hurt him often enough too have a good chance in this fight

Pacman will find some difficulty to land his punches as frequently as in the past specially on his combos because of Cotto quick and strong jab that will sometimes throw Pacman out of his rythm while trying to attack. Remember that Cotto's jab will be the strongest and quicker jab Pacman has ever faces, a jab that has knocked down stronger and bigger guys than Pacman. Not saying that it will have the same effect against Pacman but he won't be as fluent in his offense as in his previous fight.

For sure that Cotto will get hit but so will Pacman.

He lands well over 50% of the power punches he throws against all of his opponents. Google away if you don't believe me. And if he was as wild as Beater_of_ass pretends he is, he wouldn't have landed anywhere near such a high percentage even against that version of Oscar.

Against De La Hoya, Pac landed 195 of 333 power punches, a 59% ratio. Against Hatton, he landed 65 of 105 power punches, a 62% ratio. He's one of the most accurate boxers in the game today.
I also made the statement that Manny's only fought guys who stand in front of him and trade. Sure, his numbers will look high but if you dump him in there with Mosley, Mayweather or even a Paulie Malignaggi he'll miss a lot more. I mean Cotto had about those same numbers against Margarito, yet only landed about 30% on Clottey, Manny wouldn't see anymore than that against Clottey. However, while Clottey makes people miss by blocking, Cotto has shown that he still has high accuracy against slick and faster fighters, Judah, Mosley, Malignaggi are perfect examples. I can't even say how Manny would do against someone like that because again, I don't think I've seen a single fight where he's needed to chase someone or someone who has that slick evasive style.

Side note: As stated, he fought a skeleton of DLH and anyone can tag Hatton all day long. Mayweather landed 45% in 11 rounds and 55% of his power shots, the guy is an easy target.

He's developed his footwork by leaps and bounds in the last few years and is very hard to hit cleanly now. He has much more than a puncher's chance although Cotto should be the favourite, IMO.
I mean puncher's chance in the traditional sense, and not in any demeaning way. Pac is an aggressive figher (in spite of what others here state) and I believe his best - and perhaps only chance - is to connect flush with one of his classic punches. Those that think that Pac will simply fight for the decision don't really know Pac. He is not Ivan Calderon. He will attack in his own way coming in and out and will, I believe, at some point set his feet and exchange with Cotto; It's just in his nature as a fighter. Again, its my opinion that that will go very bad for Pac.

Pac has improved inmensly since his younger days by improving somewhat his defense but, more importanly, in varying his attack style. But it's not like he has has become a defensive fighter or a counterpuncher. Against Hatton he counterpunched because Hatton was so limited. I mean, c'mon Hatton sent out signals before throwing his right hand. Cotto doesnt do that. Against DLH he was able to totally dominate because DLH, althoug still good, just couldnt pull the trigger anymore. Same thing happened to DLH against PBF. I don't want to speculate as to why DLH can't anymore, but it was obvious to me. Cotto has none of those weaknesses and so the only chance I see for Pac is if he is able to connect flush a couple of times.

Unlike other people I don't see a decision going Pac's way. If it gets to 12 its because Cotto has dominated and Pac has spent the last few round creating space and trying to KO cotto. But, its just my honest opinion. Take it for what its worth.

                • I have always maintained that if Cotto doesn't get to Pacquiao early he will go down because his stamina is average at best. Pacquiao may use some movement to tire Cotto out too. That is something else to think about.

                  • Yawll are fergittin and not acknowleging the very thang that is in Cottos mind big time, HE QUIT !!!!!

He knows he QUIT, whether you want to admit or not. Yawlll are talkin bout the logistics of the fight, ins and out, skill, speed, body shots , slipping and sliding but What Cotto is thinkin about is trying to get into shape so he hopefully won't QUIT.

QUIT once , you'll QUIT again !!!!!!!!! Sad but TRUE !!!!!!!

Pacman will take him to the regions beyond to the trenches in an all out WAR, Pacman likes it , Cotto has found out that is the place he QUITS

                    • Pac's hand and foot speed is Cotto's biggest problem. Working the body and cutting off the ring, two things he is great at, should help.
