As this is the last belt, I don’t think this is a bad price. Sure they can negotiate it down to 6ms…

Plant would be a fool if he accepted $6mil..........

      1) he has something that Canelo desperately wants

      2) $10m is the going price..... if you consider what Kovalev/Jacobs/Saunders got paid

      3) what the hell else is Canelo going to do... fight Steve Rolls, or that Sacramento guy?

Just because you saw 10m doesn’t mean “It’s the going price”… The fact that they started at 10m tells us they already started high. The only way is down, I don’t even think 10m is that much, just based on holding the belt hostage then yes he would probably get 10m, but based on his achievements/resume he doesn’t even deserve more than 4m.

Not a bad strategy for Plant to let Smith & BJS go first and be the last man standing, its not unreasonable to think if he gets the $10M, probably 4 of it will be from holding the last belt. If Smith & BJS got 7-8 with their UK support adding at least a couple million to their value which Plant doesn't bring.

Yep going last would definitely help if Canelo insist on becoming undisputed at 168, if he does the same thing that he did at 160 and leave it at 3 belts then no one would bat an eyelid.

It’s not like he needs to beat Plant to be relevant at 168, Plant basically brings nothing apart from the belt. So I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets more than BJS.

a fighters purse has NEVER been based on achievement, or resume... where did you get that idea ?

otherwise, Danny Jacobs would never have received $12m

despite the fact that Plant is actually asking for less money than Jacobs was paid... why on earth should Plant accept less than Jacobs ?

serious question... why does Plant "deserve" less than Danny Jacobs... ?

That’s my opinion when compared to the other beltholders at 168, even his marketability doesn’t do much. Plant hasn’t done chit.

The only thing he has going for him is that he has the last belt. Which makes him more attractive to a cash cow like Canelo.

And going by your previous post about “Canelo fighting Steve roll” you obviously don’t understand that Canelo has far more options than most boxers around. He can throw Plant a bone if he wants, he can also say F U GTFOH.

just that alone will get him $10m

I dont think money will be an issue when it comes to making that fight

Like I said before 10m isn't an issue if Canelo really want the last belt. Does his resume/achievements or market value actually deserves it? Nope, but with them starting at 10m it tells me that they themselves know they aren't getting that.

Pay the man, he's not earned it but if canelo wants all 4 belts he's going to have to pay out a slightly bigger share of his wages. He can certainly afford it.

this may be the only time in canelos career that he doesn't have all the power negotiations wise (besides the Floyd fight)
