I can never blame (or even Hearn) for that though. Boxing is dangerous as **** and maximising your income should be the number one goal. But its kinda reached the point of absurdity. I thought the loss to Ruiz would have brought his rabid fanbase back down to reality but its like they've gotten worse. If thats even possible.

Problem is though, Wilder and Fury are terribly flawed individuals. I think the people who like them know it. Fury is a compulsive liar, he pulled a similar stunt just after the first match with Wilder. Wilder is arrogant bordering upon narcisstic whilst having absolutely zero respect for boxing fundamentals. The bulk of the American public never got behind him I think precisely for the fact that it would have been hard going from skilled heavyweight greats like Tyson, Holmes and Holyfield to a guy who essentially windmills when he sees a vulnerable opponent.
I don't know if you live in the UK, but here the coverage borders upon state propoganda. Its ****ing weird. Its like he's treated as Captain America or some ****. And the fans eat that **** up.Comment

OP makes a good point.
Anthony Joshua has attracted a fanbase of White British men who hero-worship him. It is very weird. You will often find memes like, "if I found AJ in bed with my wife, I'd tuck him in!" etc. They comment on his social media about how good he looks etc. They attack anybody, sometimes to the point of Doxing, if they say anything bad about AJ. The large majority of these people fit a certain demographic. I think this is down to AJ's handlers being a bunch of posh, upper-class White men. They market AJ in a certain way to milk the British public, and it works. It is made more comical by AJ's strong pro-Black, pro-***, pro-anti-White political and racial opinions. AJ is all for "his people", loves Africa, and identifies as African, which is fine. There's no problem with being proud of where you come from, and your heritage. But comical how he does all that then milks these gormless English morons who are so gullible and shallow.Comment

What's more loserish is the toxic 'hardcore' boxing fans who look down on people as 'casuals' who are simply newly interested in the sport. Seriously, you need to get a life of this bothers you.
And if new fans of famous boxers are not fully invested in the sport, which is totally normal behaviour by the way, then they will only tune in for the big fights whether that's for Joshua or anybody else (Fury has a lot of casual followers too). And that is how it has been and always will be. Deal with it, it doesn't make you superior to them in any way.
There's nothing special about you or your knowledge of boxing just because you are more interested in the sport than they might be.Comment

The problem comes when said casuals try to lecture people who have followed the art of Boxing for decades. You have posters like Robbie Barrett, who would probably break a wrist trying to throw a jab, talking down to fellow posters, who have years of actual combat sports experience. Casuals who acknowledge their casualness aren't a problem, but those kind of casuals are in the minority.Comment
