    that's what i say.....

its ridiculous to say dawson is "ducking" cloud,as this b.s. writer suggests....and by b.s. i don't mean "boxingscene."

this just completely defies the notion that WW's should only fight WW's and blah, blah, blah....

sometimes the best fights and/or fighters just are not in your division....

cloud is good, but completely overmatched against dawson, but i can't blame him for chasing the top LHW.....but i can't blame dawson for looking for other fights either.

now now, Lyle is a good and respected writer. Doesn't mean that he's always right, as is the case with every writer. But I agree, Dawson has much better options right now than Tavoris Cloud. Sure it was a good win for Cloud and a nice performance, but if he does it a few more times in the same fashion, than these two will HAVE to meet up. Meanwhile, Dawson has some unfinished business with Glen Johnson and hopefully Hopkins, and God willing, Zsolt Erdei before he fights Cloud.

If Dawson plans to stay in LHW, then he MUST fight Cloud. But if he feels he has the felixibility to go down to SMW again, Cloud would be the least appealing financially, but msot important, to me at least, legacy wise.
The reason why moving down to 168 does not make sense for Chad is the fact that the tournament will likely take over a year to play out. You can't tell me that he can't fight Cloud until then if Hopkins won't fight him. Of course Dawson has to get past Glen Johnson first which is no easy task.

For Christ's sake... did anyone actually READ the piece before they started yapping here? Did I say Dawson ought to fight Cloud now, ahead of Johnson? No. Did I say Cloud deserves a shot at him now, ahead of Johnson? No.

What I said was, based on a quality performance on Friday, Cloud established himself as a viable opponent down the line, after he defends a time or two and presuming Chad beats Johnson and handles whatever other business he's got on the agenda.

I know it's fun to get on and rip whomever wrote the lead article every day, but take a little time to digest it before you get started, huh?

"Presuming he gets past Johnson in November and assuming Cloud is able to wade through an initial defense or two of his new crown, the youngster’s coming-out party might be the first bit of foundation upon which to construct the light heavyweight division’s next big event.

Imagine if you will… a pair of unbeaten 175-pound champions.

            One’s a well-rounded boxer. The other’s a menacing knockout artist.

Each builds a resume and a following before getting together to unify the division, step forward as pound-for-pound elites and – presuming the PPV executives come calling – cash bigger paychecks than had the bout been rushed together a year or two too soon.

Lucrative evidence that instant gratification isn’t always the best thing."

Hardly anybody expected Dawson to fight Cloud over Johnson outside of a few biased posters who can't be happy no matter what someone does. But that doesn't mean that Dawson should totally ignore the guy while he is calling him out either. This fight should be a no-brainer if Dawson is able to beat Glen Johnson in a rematch.

I liked the article. The one thing Cloud didn't do, was keep himself active while chasing the big fights.
I was thinking, I was ringside at his last fight, in August of 2008 in Chicago. 13 months out of the ring for a contender. That's crazy.

I know he feels he deserves the big fights, but man, he should have had at least one fight before this one to get his name out there.
I mean Dawson and Johnson had plenty.
Cloud needed to show himself more. He put on a fine performance this past weekend and I read you , but we could've seen others from him, and not have had to wait a year for it.

And these posters comparing Cloud to Lacy don't know what the hell they are talking about. If you think Chad will beat Cloud that is fine. But if you say far-fetched things like Chad will Lacy him it makes you look like you don't know how to analyze styles or fights for that matter. I also think that is the very thing that causes good match ups to be denied. Calzaghe fans and Mayweather fans are notorious for doing that. Saying they will destroy such and such opponent in devastating fashion that appears to be a threat and we never get to see the fight happen is the sad reality in this sport.

Another question I have is who is HBO going to be interested in Dawson fighting in the aftermath of his fight with Johnson if he happens to win that. I could see Dawson fighting Pascal since he is from Canada and he can probably draw a big crowd. But Pascal isn't as good as Cloud. He got beat by an even more crude fighter in Froch, and I'm saying that as someone who is a fan of Froch.
