This is so nonsensical I don't even know whether to laugh, Benevidez lost his belt literally at the end of 2020(when Canelo had already tried unifying vs Smith/BJS & was ducked) & to top it off Canelo was already signed to face Smith when Chips & queso Benevidez lost his belt on scales for 2nd time,& before that there was a yr of covid hiatus for all of boxing,& before that Canelo was fighting Kov at lhw for legacy, something Benevidez wouldn't dare do despite not being able to make 168(find another excuse to hate,this excuse makes you look hella dumb)

Funny as others mentioned, canelo said nothing about unifying while benavidez had the belt. I reckon Benavidez or Bivol would be only ones to best him at 168
