In general when talking about undisputed you refer to holding the major belts. Earlier it was only WBA and WBC. Later came the IBF and WBO.
So the major alphabets today is generally recognized as being WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO. The rest, which includes IBO, WBF etc. is not highly regarded.
So Haye had WBO, WBA and WBC which made him a UNIFIED champion. NOT undisputed.Comment

There are exceptions though. Like when after Taylor lost the WBA/IBF straps. No one beat him for them and I still considered him undisputed. Joe Calzaghe was in a similar situation after the Kessler fight, as was Ken Buchanan when he was stripped.Last edited by Shadows; 09-02-2009, 08:34 AM.Comment

I know there was a huge chain of guys in the HW division that held the IBF, WBA, WBC belts after Tyson lost them to Douglas but at that point the WBO was becoming a major belts organisation.
Haye in most peoples eyes including my own was undisputed hold 3 out of 4 belts is as good as it's going to get in this era.Comment

Difference is, Calzaghe actually WON the IBF belt, by defeating Lacy, although he vacated later because HBO wouldn't televise Calzaghe-Steiglitz.
Calzaghe won all four titles and had over 20 title defenses.
Haye never had the IBF, and had only TWO title fights, against shot old Mormeck (who hasn't fought since) and the delicate-chinned Enzo Maccarinelli. Hardly "undisputed"...Comment

Nelson, thats as undisputed as it gets nowdays, in that case in the modern multi belt era the only undisputed champions have been Hopkins and Taylor? I mean if Calzaghe hadn't vacated the IBF he'd be undisputed.
