How can people say Canelo wasn’t prime at 23 with 43 pro fights..........

When:
Sugar Ray Leonard at 23 with only 26 fights beat prime Wilfred Benitez
Floyd Mayweather at 23 with only 25 fights beat prime Diego Corrales
Muhammad Ali at 22 with only 19 fights knocked out Sonny Liston
Mike Tyson at age 20 became Heavyweight Champion of the World
THAT, is greatness.
Imagine if Mike Tyson had lost his fight to 36 year old Larry Holmes, and then said “but I was only 21, I was too young........”
Instead Tyson finished his ass in 4 rounds.
Canelo fought a 36 year old Floyd who was 15lbs lighter than him, and couldn’t win a single round.......
Canelo is a good fighter, but will never be on the level of Ali, Roy Jones, Tyson, Leonard, Duran, or even May/Pac.
it will be unfair to ask floyd to fight canelo at this point since age and size(power) are too much of a disadvantage for floyd...
also i dont think now is the time to compare canelo with ATGs , wait until his career is over and the we can have that debate...Comment

I just told you, Duran’s contemporaries went up to 168. If you want to research the ages of Hearns, SRL too, then you can. Point is Duran started at Floyd’s weight class. Lil PAC, took one for his soul, been KO’d various times in the process, still, kept on fighting going up regardless of catchweights. PAC did his dues and suffered because of it. Still, PAC is an ATG.
so given that Floyd COULD in that gaining weight is easier and the examples such as Duran, I’m telling you, Canelo would still be surrendering to Floyd’s 155 for the Middleweigth title but he didn’t want it because he was a privileged puss-e influenced by Haymon to simply focus on A side earnings.
if Duran fought Barkley, real life occurrences, and Floyd changing 144 to 146 for Marquez is just sad… or as I say again, fight Canelo at 152 but not stipulate 155 for Canelo’s Middleweight title? Floyd fans try every excuse to go over all these circumstances.
You know what that means? He couldn't even make the 152 catchweight dummy.
There is no way Floyd could have put on the weight to campaign at middleweight.
Two years, TWO years after retirement he fights Mcgregor and guess what he weighs on the one day scale, 149lbs, even though its a 154lb fight.
When he fought Cotto he was 151lbs, but even that is because he was trying hard to hydrate because he was diagnosed with a bad flu leading up to the fight and had to hydrate a lot to prevent dehydration (Flu can cause dehydration).
When he fought Maidana the first time, he was 148lbs ON FIGHT NIGHT, and even going far back to Victor Ortiz, he was 150LBS ON fight night.
Lol, Floyd is maxed out at 150lbs.
People (you) lie but the scales don't lie.Comment

Keep telling yourself that. Every person with a brain knows that 23 is not your prime. Neither physical nor in terms of experience.Comment

Floyd wanted 152lbs? Lol, why get yourself caught in a blatant lie mate?
Everyone and their momma knows that it was Canelo's team that offered the 152lbs catchweight when Floyd wasn't even thinking about Canelo.
Floyd called their bluff and accepted then they wined when they got taken to school.Comment

It's simple Prime isn't based on someone's age but the height of their powers . Some have their best years early 20's some mid 20's some don't even show their best until they hit 30 plus years old . Canelo is clearly a much better fighter now then he was when he fought Floyd . Not that hard to understandComment

They can’t stand the fact that they’re lover boy faced his top opponents under his rules and benefit.
Floyd beating a chico corralles at 23 is the equivalent of Canelo beating Mosley at 20. Chico rip as exciting as he was was not a great fighter like a slightly past his prime Mosley was. It was far from a green 23 yr old canelo beating a Floyd Mayweather.Comment

Seems you don't understand how amateur background contributes to experience, and the fact that most Mexicans jump straight to pro fights, as opposed to Americans who have extensive amateur/olympic backgrounds. Canelo was still learning at that time. The more important question is why Floyd drained him instead of fighting him at the weight Canelo was comfortable at.
Salvador Sanchez was 22, had 43 pro fights and ONLY 4 amateur fights when he beat an undefeated Wilfredo Gomez.
Canelo was 23, had 43 pro fights, 46 amateur fights, and lost to a much smaller 36 year old Mayweather.
Seems you don't understand boxing history.Last edited by Da Pimper; 05-12-2021, 09:57 AM.Comment

If you think canelo was in his prime at 23 you are one ****** idiot. Unlike all those guys mentioned Canelo did not have a loooong amateur background he learned on the Job like a lot of Mexicans do. And at only 23 he went up against the number 1 p4p fighter of the time. Im a huge Benitez Liston fan But neither was at their peak or best when they faced Ali and Leondard.
againt if you think a 23 year old dehydrated canelo was at his best then I’m pretty sure you’re the ones giving Floyd these passes for fighting 118lb Japanese boys and you tubers.
Salvador Sanchez was 22 (year younger than Nelo) and had only 4 amateur fights. At age 22 he stepped up and beat prime undefeated Wilfredo Gomez.
Fck outta here.Last edited by Da Pimper; 05-12-2021, 10:02 AM.Comment
