Canelo gets too much hate imo..... But at the same time it's like Loma..... His fans kinda invite it by making crazy statements.
Canelo arguably lost his two biggest fights. And arguably should have got a draw in the rematch.
His defining wins all been controversial you can't compare him to Floyd who dominated most if his defining wins
floyd never fought a slick moving southpaw like lara who was in his prime. he had tons of trouble with judah so i dont see that being a walk in the park also remember "i dont want to fight stevie johnston! hbo is trying to make me fight him!" stevie johnston was good but no lara. also floyd never fought an iron chinned destroyer like ggg. he fought a lesser version in castillo and most had him losing, he had the chance to fight margarito and chose guys like sharmba and zab comng off a loss instead. not really fair to compare them.
i have more respect for canelo for taking the challenges. did ali dominate all his opponents? not by a long shot but he fought almost very top 5 guy for about 15 years. did leonard? losing to hearns before stoppage, debatable hagler win, 1-1 vs duran. thats what happens when greats fight each other, no fighter is head and shoulders above everybody and floyd was proof of that as he wasnt head and shoulders above guys lke castillo and maidana so certainly others would have challenged him but didnt get the chance. stylistally sometimes there are going to be dominations when top guys square off lik floyd-canelo although that was prob weight realted as well but very often they are going to be close tight battles think pac-marquz pac-morales and not so muh pac-barrera. pac just had him for whatever reason doesnt mean barrera sucks.
also i dont even know what you consider floyds defining wins and that really says it all about his career doenst it? its like a Rorschach test. so blurry and undefined, some peopl look at it and see greatness and others look at it and are confused by the mess
Floyd was not his “biggest” fight because he wasn’t in his prime Not ideal weight yet that’s a fact.
And he did win one of his biggest fights the rematch with ggg go back and look it’s a legit win for canelo but if you want go off “what if’s” Then Floyd also has a clear loss to Castillo 1 and arguably Maidana 1.
also when’s the last time floyd let an opponent have his demands? NEVER!!!! Refs, judges, officials, gloves, ring everything in His favor.
Sorry but Floyd is overrated and a joke the guy would hands down lose to half of the guys he beat(playing tag) in a real fight.
Floyd was one of his biggest fights wtf you talking about. I didn't say it was #1 or not.
Floyd had a controversial win vs Castillo yes...clear loss? No. Imo he lost...... But it wasn't a clear loss.
Both fights vs GGG were controversial. He should have lost the first, then in the second he might have fcked GGG up, but GGG still pilled up points to to get a draw. Imo the second was a draw but no problem saying Canelo won.
And Floyd let Oscar get all demands.... Oscar dictated negotiations and made him fight at a higher weight.
And you can't hold that against Floyd when Canelo tried to do thec exact same thing, he just didn't succeed doing it. Example ( Cotto, GGG) Canelo wasn't in a position to generate big money fighting anybody so he had no choice.
Why criticize Floyd for "boxing" when Canelo did it vs GGG in the first fight? If that makes Floyd a coward.... That makes Canelo look worst since that's not his natural style and decided to use it after claiming to need time to get used to 160lb by fighting Amir Khan moving down then moving back up fighting Chavez.
And lastly Canelo respect that boxing clinic Floyd gave him cuz obviously it helped him grow alot as a fighter.
While you defending Canelo to diss Floyd Canelo the man himself would defend Floyd and how great he is, cuz it it's a big part of his career which he greatly benefited from.

but oscar ******. he had one legit win in4 years and that was over mayorga a face firster. he was ranked #6 by the ring. he was not a top guy. he was not a real threat or at least he shouldn't have been no matter the ring or glove size. this was not floyds ggg moment like canelo faced. ggg was a destroyer and legit guy. oscar was a part time boxer whose skills had greatly diminished and clearly so.
pretty sure the roids helped him grow...
canelo learned a lot from floyd politically but do you really think he learned a lot from a skill standpoint? i mean it was one 36 minute sparring match. you cant learn that much in such a short span. canelo learned that the weight does matter. canelo learned that the timing of when to fight guys does matter. if he takes that ggg fight after the cotto fight he probably gets sparked, likewise he saw an easy mark against cotto and took him down. same with kovalev. capitalize on name brand value, take down the marks. canelo definitely integrated that into his career portfolio but he doesnt go as far as floyd did which is good. i dont think canelo would wait 5 years to fight a guy, 2 maybe but he caves to pressure more easily than floyd

Well Floyd wasn't the only person stopping that Pac fight, Pac team was just at fault as he was, they basically played hot potato holding up the fight.
and saying Canelo didn't benefit skill wise is compete bS.... When a fighter gets dominated if he is not delusional he doesn't go to the drawing board and just chalk up the lost as a weight issues.... His gameplay was terrible and after that he obviously intergreted things to his style. Every fight to a pro fighter is a heavy learning experience only a fan with an agenda would say otherwise.
And about Oscar.... Stay on topic.... I responded to him saying he never gave anyone demands which he did back when he wasn't in a position to call shots. Canelo would and tried to do the same thing but found out "at the time" his Aside wasn't as strong as the Aside of Prime Manny, Floyd or part time Oscar.
Idk why we can't give Canelo credit and Floyd credit.... Taking away credit from one guy inadvertently takes away from the other
Mayweather was one of the best defensive fighters no doubt, but boring as hell! Some great NFL teams had dog poop for a QB but still won lots of games and the super bowl. The teams were not popular though just like Mayweather is not popular as a fan favorite. People don't watch NFL to see teams kept from scoring, they want to see Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes rack up the scoreboard. MAYWEATHER = BORING! Canelo not boring. If Mayweather wanted greatness he should give fans what they want.
