Also, Floyd’s problem against Maidana was simply because Maidana is so unorthodox in punch selection, it’s hard to compute

i always said if you’re a very “correct” boxer, Floyd will figure you out in a few rounds and take over. Maidana was so difficult to read that it took Floyd until the middle of the first fight to really start getting to grips with it.

I don’t know how many of you have ever boxed or sparred, sometimes it’s much easier sparring somebody that is technically sound than someone that’s barely boxed before. Not that I’m comparing Maidana to someone that never boxed, he was a very good fighter and champ, but there was no obvious patterns to his work like you would get with a orthodox fighter who does things correctly.

so when you’re a boxer like Floyd that reads patterns in the ring, it’s much harder with someone like Maidana.

Some fight fans, not you of course, feel no amount of fights would have made a difference. May is a once in a lifetime talent.
Canelo had also made 6 world title defences and had beaten Trout who had previously schooled Cotto. He was in his 20’s and was in p4p top 10 in every list you can find.

People make out Floyd dragged some green teenage prospect over the border and beat him.

i don’t buy the whole thing Canelo is x10 better now. Has he improved and become more seasoned? Yeah but he’s also only really fought guys that walk in straight lines since Lara. Walk in straight lines against Canelo at 23 or 30 years old and you would see similar results.

he’s definitely improved but give him some angles and a jab and you won’t see the same Canelo as you see when he fights a big stiff basic upright euro lummox like Callum Smith.

Criticisms with any merit do not come from real fight fans.

Haters hold Nelo being ''Clen'd to the gills'' against him......

        He can do no right

I don't know Floyd is this another of your outlandish claims?
what version of Floyd beats that version of floyd? It's possible you wasn't in prime but hard to prove it or gauge with any degree of accuracy. Sure you might not have been in your absolute athletic prime. But still hard to prove that Floyd loses to the one who beat gatti, or who arguably lost to castillo

i was there. he was getting up there in age but he was one of the best preserved boxers ever. and age didn't hold him back from what he was trying to do. he didn't need to get on the gas hard. he fought an older man's fight and he certainly wasn't an old man. canelo missed him by feet.

Stylistically Floyd will always be a bad match up for near any fighter and that includes Canelo. Landing a clean shot on him was near impossible and most people never did it 2 shots in a row. That's no knock on Canelo nor is it building Floyd up. Its statistical fact.

Old man 36 years? That makes Canelo a boy at 23 at that time
