Also, Floyd’s problem against Maidana was simply because Maidana is so unorthodox in punch selection, it’s hard to compute
i always said if you’re a very “correct” boxer, Floyd will figure you out in a few rounds and take over. Maidana was so difficult to read that it took Floyd until the middle of the first fight to really start getting to grips with it.
I don’t know how many of you have ever boxed or sparred, sometimes it’s much easier sparring somebody that is technically sound than someone that’s barely boxed before. Not that I’m comparing Maidana to someone that never boxed, he was a very good fighter and champ, but there was no obvious patterns to his work like you would get with a orthodox fighter who does things correctly.
so when you’re a boxer like Floyd that reads patterns in the ring, it’s much harder with someone like Maidana.
