He's got very good power but a bit limited skill wise as seen against Vlasov. Beterbiev also has his limitations, but he's more skilled and very powerful, with great close range punches that are his forte.

I do believe it would be a good fight, not a one sided beat down or a fighter like Joe Jr. running or hiding, not coming in in shape or prepared, that is not going to happen. Has he earner the shot ? Sure. Will it get people watching I believe that too. Light - Heavy is not very active right now so it might shine a little light on the division and it needs that. No matter who wins it could lead to more fights.

I fight that would definitely watch. I favor Bertibiev but Smith always has the puncher's chance. It should be fun as long as it last, for Smith's credit he is the only one talking about facing Bertibiev.

Joe Smith is a decent fighter. Thought he lost against Vlasov, as did my friend who watched with me but we were drinking, after a full evening of poker so grain of salt. It was close, so no robbery.

Problem is that Beterbiev is not Vlasov. He is a granite chin worker who does not care about what is coming back at him. He throws cement punches with bad intentions and has underrated angles and offensive skills. A little head movement would be nice, but otherwise he is solid. I think Smith has hand speed on Beterbiev! But very little else.

Beterbiev wins unless he is still as sluggish as his last fight, but I am betting he is much more motivated and sharp.

Smith Jr. will definitely make this fight competitive. I believe Beterbiev will eventually break him down and win by late round tko.

Alot of good posts in this comment section (gave about half a dozen thumbs up), so don't need to repeat their commentary.

Vlasov was always going to be a touch matchup for Smith and it showed. Vlasov is a another iron chinned fighter with decent boxing skills.

Beterbiev is much more dangerous but he's not invincible. Artur will most likely cautiously apply pressure but if he's careless in his pursuit (like the Johnson fight) he can get cracked. Smith has confidence and seems to relish the opportunity to fight the Russian, that should make for a good fight.

Should make improvements and rematch Vlasov. Beterbiev will crush him do not see it even being competitive.

This would be a good scrap,Joe seems to find a way to get in dogfights every time out. I think Beterbieve is very vulnerable to being outboxed, too bad Joes not so good at boxing on outside. I used to think he'd give Canelo a fun fight(for fans) but after last performance & Bivol,I think hes already peaked careerwise. Likeable warrior though,I would prefer him v canelo to bjs any day.

joe smith is becoming more wild than wilder. a lot of wasted energy on wasted shots thrown at wrong distance, and not enough defensive skill.
