    Wow. That's ignorant as fuck.

absolutely its still hard. we take them for granted a lot, but these guys we seen at the top level would make any of us look silly if we tried to box them, even if they are only 'paper' champs.

still, today its unbelievably easier to be a world champ. can you believe that the WBA on its own has 3 'champs' at 135lbs? THREE. for one belt! how in the hell is that legitimate?

and then count the number of other belts out there, and add in their 'interim' champs and everything. its pretty sad sometimes.

there are guys that are world champions that you have never heard of before, and probably never will hear about. some of these champs have never even been top ten fighters.

and whats odd about Calzaghe is that for a good part of his title reign, the WBO belt was not considered legitimate. people look at that now and its a record breaking title belt defence record, but once opon a time his WBO reign was looked at little better than the title defences that Hatton made with the WBU title.

...which is why you should look at who they beat and how, stats are very misleading often.

It is pretty difficult to become a world champion and impossible for most people. Though there are some who make me think again

much worse fighters than Mayorga have become world champions.

people talk bad about Mayorga's skill level, but the guy is WAY more crafty than people give him credit for.

Oh do doubt he is an awkward fighter and gives alot of people trouble because he is unorthodox and has power. Still have I have to admit I have thought it can't be that hard if this guy which drinks and smokes can become a 2 division world champion. I know alot of ppl must have thought the same way.

he drinks and smokes, Im sure, but he sure as still trains hard for his fights. a lot of that is just for show.

someone like Nicolino Locche was worse. the guy used to smoke cigarrettes inbetween rounds of some of his fights. but he still had to work hard to get to where he was, because he put a lot of thought into how to become so good defensively. mental preparation counts just as much as physcial prep.

Carlos Maussa is a probably one of the worst 'world champions' Ive ever seen.

Valuev is pretty bad he makes me think that if I was a giant who knew Don King then I could be WBA HW champion too.

well not everyone is a giant, haha.
and even if you were a giant you could end up like Tye Fields. so even then it aint no piece of cake to be a world champ.
