Agree 100%. Bryan would be ideal. Gets him a secondary belt and he's not a threat. Helenius can crack but he doesn't have the best punch resistance and he's there to be hit. Kownacki throws alot which leaves him open and his defense and head movement leave something to be desired. Martin lacks confidence and fights timid even tho he has some ability. I could see him freezing and folding in a fight with Wilder.

Except that fighting Bryan would mean having to deal with Don King...Not sure if that is what he or his team wants.

Kownacki vs Helenius II is taking place and will be announced when FOX releases their schedule.

Martin is a perfectly reasonable fight for Wilder next. After that he can fight Ruiz or a belt that becomes vacant after the first Joshua/Fury fight. I mean the WBO is all but certain to be vacant after the first fight, who knows about the other ones.

Well, his career was mostly smoke and mirrors aside from Ortiz who was a good fighter. I dont buy the Ortiz is ten years older than he says crap. The truth is the first real one he fought beat him fairly easily aside from two rounds. I have a feeling he is emotionally broke over the loss to Fury and we may never see him again. I would like to see him get a real trainer and shore up some of his technical issues and come back but just gut feeling I think we may have seen the last of Wilder.

Wilder has a few things against him. If he can get deal with those, he remains one of the bigger names in the HW division, we know he can crack and that always offers some entertainment.

What are the things that are against him?

• His ego -- his inability to recognise his own flaws is a big problem. Instead he makes irrational/delusional excuses for why he lost. That stops him from correcting the flaws.
• Inactivity combined with age -- he's not exactly old as such for a HW, but he will soon be knocking on the door. That's not good when it's combined with over a year out of the ring with no sign of a next fight being lined up.
• Limited boxing skills -- which ties in with the first point, as he needs to put his ego to one side to try and advance those skills as best he can.

Plus points are that he is athletic, durable and has amazing concussive power.

First things first he needs to embrace is the fact that he lost to Fury because Fury had superior boxing skills. Second he needs to adopt a mentality that the more he works on his own skills, the more likely he is to win his remaining fights. Third he needs to set a date to get back in the ring.

Other posters have suggested Helenius -- I think this would be an excellent opponent to get another W on the record and build his confidence up a little. He needs to be sharpening those skills the whole time in readiness for the make or break fight when he steps up to the higher levels of the division. Whyte would be a winnable fight for Wilder, though not a complete gimme. That's someone he should consider as a fight-after-next opponent.

How many fights realistically does Wilder have left? Three or four tops, I'd say. Time is running out. Get on with it.
