Matchmaking isn’t designed to feed a promising fighter a buffet of stiffs all the way to a title shot that gets you destroyed. Fighters have to overcome when facing adversity. Mielnicki faced adversity in there and failed the test. He has no one to blame but himself. He simply didn’t want to win as much as his opponent

Agreed. I don't think it was bad matchmaking so much as it was a poor gameplan and inability to make adjustments by Vito. He didn't seem to react well to getting his nose busted up and bloodied either. I think he thought he could walk through Martin's punches and when he got busted up he didn't seem to want or know how to close ground and unload his own shots. Hopefully he learns from the setback.

Also, the one judges scorecard was atrocious.

Seems like he wasn't prepared to fight someone like Martin, like his preparation was all wrong for this fight. Seemed discouraged when he couldn't bully his opponent and got busted in the nose. At least he wasn't stopped; he's lucky Martin didn't have more power. Definitely gonna see how much he wants it after this setback. They'll probably throw him back in with another stiff to get his confidence back.
