Wasn't that given that he would be back?

I don't see a problem with him coming back if his heart's in it. He's not old, he's not had a long gruelling career, not been injury prone as far as I know the only thing in question is if his head's been in the right place
Not being elite or a high level prospect doesn't mean you should retire. He can easily come back to fight on the domestic scene, make a few quid and target an Area or British title if that's what he wants to do.
To me, he already sounds punchy. Stay retired.Comment

No, he needs to stay put before he gets seriously hurt. His punch resistance is gone. The BBBoC shouldn't sanction anymore of his fights for his own safety and good.Comment

Fundamentally Dave Allen did have good innate attributes, he was durable, determined and had decent power 'But did not seem to evolve much as a fighter technically, no matter who he trained with etc'.
David Price done a real job on him, done good to stand up to Price's power.
Maybe the time out has rejuvenated him.
Might as well just go until there is no more 'Sometimes I like that in a fighter'.
