At least a Standing 8 Count

Taking nothing away from Benn at all but it is also clear they're building him up by feeding him common opponents who the now Top Welterweights have fought years ago and having try to defeat them faster and in more dominating fashion to build him up that way. It is a good strategy to create a buzz but ultimately you will have to get in with those Top Guys to really prove you're "WORLD LEVEL"

If this was some Other fighters people was be screaming "RIGGED" and accusing Vargas of "Taking A Dive" for that type of Stoppage lets be honest

it was a late stoppage for IJL standards, he waves it off after the first couple of unanswered blows. hell, he even waves it off if no punches even land

It's a shame because everyone gets robbed with questionable stoppages like these. Benn did a great job, but he was robbed of the opportunity to score a real KO, Vargas was robbed of the opportunity to potentially upset Conor or at least put up a real fight, and the fans get robbed of a proper fight/finish.

I think Vargas may be stretching the truth saying g he wasn't hurt, but he certainly looked able to continue. I just find it unbelievable that some fans are okay with the stoppage when the ref didn't even check if Vargas could continue. He didn't check! He just stopped it when he saw Vargas head snap back from a punch in the first round!

Just like Tony Weeks is apt to do.

Isn't a situation like this what a Standing 8 Count is for? Not being sarcastic. Honest question.

By Mitch Abramson - In the wake of the tragic death of another boxer on Wednesday, a number of ideas have been put forward on how to make the sport safer, from increased drug testing to mandatory MRIs to health insurance for all fighters. These are all good ideas and should be implemented. The more protections for the fighters the better...
