Comments Thread For: Hearn: There is No Way Shields Goes Ten Rounds With Marshall

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Savannah Marshall, is working hard to make a unification clash with two-time Olympic gold medal winner Claressa Shields. On Saturday night at Copper Box Arena in London, Marshall became the first woman to stop Maria Lindberg in 29 fights as she retained her WBO middleweight world title with a third round knockout.

None of these cards are complete without the usual showcase fighter bashing up inept late replacement opponent for an impressive win in 3 rounds or under..

I agree with Eddie Hearn. Claressa Shields will talk trash, act arrogant, but no way she wants to fight Savannah Marshall on a level playing field. There will be some nonsense, "fight at a catchweight", "fight in America on Shield's promoter's show", "Shields wants an 80/20 split", just watch. If Shields doesn't want the fight she should stop calling herself "da GWOAT". Savannah Marshall has the potential to capture titles from Middleweight to Heavyweight, could unify a few of those divisions too. Eva Kozin at Middleweight would be a suitable victim in the near future, if Shields is too scurred to take the challenge.

It’s by far and wide the best fight to make in women’s boxing and the hardest fight in each of the respective fighters careers by far.

It’s a pity Shields is too busy chasing smaller fighters.

Yeah, I've been impressed with the fluidity of her combinations, she just lets her hands go without necessarily trying to throw them hard and the punches have impact because of that smoothness.

WTF! You think Shields would act unreasonable for a fight like this? I don’t think so, but yes she would do the same thing that a lot of these boxers do. Ask for money that represents 4/5 times what they make with their own promoters on their own shows.

I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by Marshall. Her and Shields are the best women Ive seen in the sport so far. By the weay is therte a HW division for women, never seen a HW womens fight.

Yes there is, although the fights tend to be few and far between, but although I'm a big supporter of the female sport I'd say it's not a particularly edifying spectacle either as an exposition of the sweet science, or - if can say this without causing offense - for the appreciation of the female form.
