I understand both sides, I really do. When I would watch Chavez fights growing up and heard the national anthem I would get all emotional and excited.
My only brother was born in San Jose cali. He was born a citizen, he joined the Navy about 4+ years ago. I never felt anything special when the US anthem was sung, that is until my brother was in the Navy. When my brother joined, I felt pride in my brother, he is a good decent man, and I believe he is doing a great thing in serving. You can say we (our family) felt like we are accepted in this country by my brothers service. Recently we went to Sea World and before the Shamu show started they asked that anyone serving in the Armed Forces AND their families stand and be recognized, and I could say that I felt pride in being American.
I've been to a few fights here in Vegas, and they always sing the anthems, Always the Mexican anthem, then the other anthem, then the American Anthem, And now when I hear both the Mexican and American anthems I FEEL them. the way I see it is I am a Mexican by birthright and blood, and I am a Proud Citizen of the US.

AND the fact that Mexicans LOVE their fighters and the way they fight is just the way it is. No one can blame them, and everyone has their preferences. You can call a Boxer a boxer, or you can call him a brawler, I don't care. WE LOVE OUR FIGHTERS and there is nothing you or anyone else can say or do to change this.
There are tons of athletes that act different infront of the cameras, in many sports. Attitudewise everyone is human and everyone deserves bad days. Can you imagine the droves of people they HAVE signed autographs for, how do you know what he's going through. Mario is a first generation mexican like me, actually I went to CVHS with one of his cousins, he is really nice!! but he wasn't always like that.
I understand where you're coming from.I too feel very proud when I hear the Mexican anthem, same with the U.S anthem.

You make a good point about many athletes acting different in front of the cameras, I guess I never expected Morales to respond in such a matter.

What do you mean CVHS?You don't mean Coachella Valley High School do you?

I just hate seeing **** like when mexican americans put down a mexican that just came across the border by calling him a ******* when the majority of our parents and granparents came from mexico that way. The same goes the other way when we get called pocho.[/COLOR]
But back to boxing, i am a big oscar fan but the reason alot of mexicans from mexico didnt like him was cuz of chavez fight and if you watch his early fights he always came out with the american flag. Then all of a sudden he starts coming out with a mexican flag to get more fans so they can buy more ppvs. I like him and i hate him, but its more of a 80% like.
Vargas was a ****ing idiot . I thought he was going to do good then all of a sudden he ******.
The thing is , dont be phony cuz people can tell and when you get exposed, you'l lose the fans you won with your phonyness, if thats even a word.
This is the way I feel bro.

Anyways this thread is about boxing. Vargas had a huge fan base in the USA, but not too many people from Mex liked him. Its not just Vargas and DLH, its many more
Well just to let you know my mother applied for citizenship back when she was young and she went through the whole process and was granted citizenship. She never had to cross illegally.

My father lived in Mexico until he passed away back in 01.
