I got covid last year. Messed up my workout routine, lost all of my gains, lost strength. It was a struggle to do even 10% of what I wanted to do. Months after I had no desire to do anything, not even go do light sparring. If he got covid in November 2020, then he was not going to be ready for Whyte by March 2021. A good training camp is 8 weeks, the effects of covid can linger for months. Not only was he not ready, he also needed a tune up since he came off of covid. The main takeaway is that boxing is a very physical sport and covid messes with you physically. It can also give you brain fog, where you have issues concentrating.

The difference between Povetkin’s appearance in the first fight vs the first fight is like night and day. He clearly looks in shape in the first fight weigh in. He looked absolutely out of shape in the rematch weigh in. It does not help that Whyte came in better shape than the first fight.

I think its very dose dependent, and probably down to genetics too.My nephew had it and it barely effected him.My sisters still weak and got a bad cough a year later.I don't think alot of people can get over the difference in how it effects people.

Sulaimoney seems to be disappointed. And is not hiding it.

Covid has absolutely nothing to do with it. Povetkin is finished, but he can look back on a pretty decent career. Not everyone is a great fighter, but most that won titles are good.

I experienced covid, a bad flu indeed, fine within two weeks, and I'm not as physically fit as a professional athlete.

He was unstable since the beginning, he wasn't almost able to get up at the beginning of each round and seemed like dull at times. Shame he was even allowed to fight.

That doesn't mean that's going to be the same for all. Your experience doesn't = everybody else's experience. Have heard plenty of physically fit and active people being totally knocked out by Covid and other unfit people be fine after a week or two.

Tbh I don’t know why there’s so much surprise. Let’s not act like it was covid because the first fight was going down this same road before the KO

Povetkin looked like **** in first fight also, before that KO.

Maybe COVID weakened him, maybe another few months did it, or maybe Whyte just did a job on him.

It doesn't really matter. The orgs should be judging the performance in the ring, not the circumstances.

The WBC President saying this is pretty poor.
