I have no idea how one could watch this fight and think Whyte would have anything for Joyce. Too slow and sloppy, his jab is good but he hardly uses it unless told. Joyce actually uses his effectively, consistently. Add to this Joyce has a ****ing chin and Whyte is the complete opposite. Whytes only weapon is his left hook but I fail to see how he lands that...he doesn't seem that capable of setting up shots. I feel guys like Hrgovic and Joyce, Yoka too require a decent pedigree to beat. Whyte is too much of a junkyard dog to threaten them seriously. Whyte/Joshua is what you get when a tough but limited fighter goes up against the kind of athletic specimens in the heavyweight division with strong amateur backgrounds. The only reason that fight even went on as long as it did was because Joshua hated Whyte and wanted to ice him. If any decent fighter sits and boxes Whyte they muller him.
Joyce is one of those guys who looks very hard to beat until he doesn't. What I mean by that is, as long as his chin holds up he's going to be a problem. But if that chin gets checked then all of a sudden his relentless pressure doesn't seem as imposing anymore, and I'm not sure he has a lot to fall back on.
Strangely enough, Brandon Rios was another one of these guys. He got off to a quick start and was just walking through dudes at 140lbs. But then he felt Alvarado's and Pacquiao's power and from that point on was quickly found out. Margarito would have been another example if not for what we know now about the plaster. He was a nightmare prospect for anyone at 147 to the point where Floyd wasn't rushing to fight him, but then Mosley cracked that chin and his veneer of invincibility was forever lost.
Joyce is like Jason he’ll just keep coming. He is like a mixture of Margarito and Jarrett Hurd. There isnt much special effects in his game but he is built like a brick wall and will move forward until they fall.
Joyce is really pretty horrible. Horrible hand speed, horrible footwork, horrible balance and still, if he is still there after about 8, he probably stops Whyte.
Joyce is one of those fighters who is way better than he looks, similar to Carl froch in that sense. Looks slow and lumbersome but grinds his opponents down and breaks their will as has an iron chin and applies relentless pressure the full fight by just keep coming forward.
