Comments Thread For: Crawford: They're Trying To Move Ortiz Too Fast; He Should Fight 'Mean Machine'

Terence Crawford considers someone he has beaten to be the perfect opponent for Vergil Ortiz Jr.'s next fight. The unbeaten WBO welterweight champion doesn't consider Ortiz experienced enough to challenge him just yet. Egidijus Kavaliauskas, on the other hand, would be an appropriate opponent for Ortiz's return to the ring, according to Crawford.

Crawford should hardly complain, if a fight with Ortiz gets made. If he wins, his profile goes up, because as outstanding as he is, he isn't a big box office drawcard.

It's doubtful that Ortiz and Ennis will fight anyway, so Crawford vs Ortiz, better than any of Crawford's previous fights.

That would be a good fight. I agree here, I think Ortiz should fight him, then a top 5 guy, whilst Crawford should fight a top 5 guy, plus Spence, this year. I could see Ortiz vs Crawford, maybe late 2022. Crawford vs Spence has to happen this year. I'd hate it to never happen like when Kovalov and Stevenson were both top 10 P4P and never fought, or when we had to settle for past his prime Mayweather beating still in his prime Pacquiao 118-110, instead of seeing prime Mayweather, likely stop him in a more exciting for the casuals type of fight.

What does Crawford care about how they move Ortiz along? Take the fight because he’s probably the best name Crawford will land unless pbc suddenly decides to let their fighters face him.

When did Crawford become Ortiz promoter? He's looking like A clown these days. Won't fight spence for 50/50, he's been chasing Manny for almost 7 years, he told Porter to stand by. I mean dam who you plan on fighting Jossesito Lopez? I see why Bob Arum is losing money on him.

I agree and Ortiz already has a buzz so it’s not like anyone should use the “he’a not a draw” excuse. Ortiz said he would take the fight whether he is “ready” or not so the ball is in Crawford’s court.

Trying to big up his resume by hyping Kavaliauskas as some badass welterweight.

100% agree! Then maybe against a top 10 guy like Lipnets. Then a Ugas, then D. Garcia, Pac, M. Garcia, or Thurman

                Be about 25 then...

                  Because this will be a Canelo/Floyd 2.0

He might win 2 maybe 3 rounds.

If I was Ortiz promoter then I would go for the Bud fight now. Have said it before his style might be entertaining and great for us the fans, but it wouldn’t last longer for him.

But I can see his promoter taking another 2/3 fights before going up against the bigger names.
