A win for cotto means #1 pound for pound?

A year ago after Pacman destroyed Diaz, Bob Arum was asked if Cotto is the next target for Pacquiao and he said, "Manny is staying away from Cotto." But I guess he's not. Bob Arum is in a win win situation. No matter what happen after Pacman-vs-Cotto fight, Top Rank holds the best fighter in the world title.
As for Mr. Cotto himself this, is the most importan fight of his career. This is his chance to be the best fighter of the world Pound 4 Pound. He is very determined to defeat Manny. He is now in full swing training and ready for a long grind.

A Cotto win means that the winner of Mayweather vs Marquez is the automatic p4p champ

No because Mayweather and Marquez would still both be ahead of him.

According to Te Ring Magazine a Cotto win over Pacquiao would make him the P4P #1. So yes Cotto will be P4P #1 after he beats Pacquiao.

That's because of Floyds inactivity.. nobody here really uses Ring rankings although they are the closest IMO.. I still have Floyd ranked and though not certain of where, I have him ranked higher than Cotto.. Not to mention that Shane Mosely's win over Margacheato made him the number one welterweight.. so Cotto's not even number one in his division.. Cotto needs a win over Floyd which I think is possible and a win over Mosely.. Orrr he could take some time off and maybe Floyd and Sugar fight eachother and Cotto would only have to fight the winner

Also if Clottey beats Mosely (if that fight ever happens) then we could take Mosely out of the pic and Cotto would only need a Floyd win.

No, Honestly I think the number 1 P4P spot should be left vacant until Marquez-Mayweather winner fights the Cotto-Shane II winner....
