Just for those that don't understand.

Floyd is one of Triller's investors.

They're trying to be a disruptor - basically the "WWE Network" of boxing (minus the back catalog).

In their mind you should be able to just do subscriptions for fight access but also have PPV for those that want it (I actually agree with this strategy, as a business owner myself).

It means if you have crap internet, you can get boxing. If you have great internet, you can get boxing.

DAZN doesn't work if you have crap internet. It barely works if you have good internet.

PPV doesn't work if you don't subscribe to cable (generally, there are exceptions) or like the vast majority of NSB, too broke to afford the PPV price (but will gladly blow money on...well, blow, or weed, or liquor).

Seeing Arum on the low end of the bid is interesting to me. It means that he got a better slice than he would have if he did the deal himself, BUT he has to give up exclusive broadcast rights which would have made him a lot more money AND he basically is dropping draws to a competitor. By a WIDE margin.

Will be interesting to hear Arum's take here. If it had gone to DAZN, that's really bad for ESPN and Arum would be incentivized to retaliate, but Triller is kind of a non-entity right now. Hard to imagine them making a dent given how crowded the market is.

Down the line, the [roblem is that Lopez might be asked to go into unification and make the same or less money than he makes against Kambosis. And then we're back to another standoff with Top Rank and a big fight wont get made because someone overpaid for a fight just to get it.

      Berto-Cotto all over again.
Exactly this! At least it's gonna be fun.

So, wtf does this mean? Is this now going to be a PPV event with this fight on the undercard of some youtuber fight? I was looking forward to this fight, but that d0uchebag Jake Paul isn't getting one red cent of my hard earned money!

This is great for Lopez who is walking away with almost 4m much more then what Top Rank was going to pay for the fight. Sucks for fans who could of seen this fight on ESPN but now have drop money on a pay-per-view to see it. Unless you pair this with a loaded card I don't see boxing fans paying to see Lopez fight a mandatory against a unknown fighter.

good for teo and especially kambosos but kinda sucks when they overpay because they then inevitably decide that boxing isn't really worth their money.

It definitely will be a PPV I think it's safe to say. Much more upside in a PPV. And I think ~120k buys at $50 a pop in the US secures a profit for them so that's doable.

Also idk how much they can make selling this to a network or on PPV in Australia so it probably doesn't need to get 120k US buys.

Whatever happens Lopez will be Mando to the winner, and if they move up and drop the belt Lopez still is Mando to that belt.

Arum has no real power here and thats why he is so upset.

None of Arum fighters have a deal with ESPN, so theirs no EXTRA incentive for any fighter to take a paycut just to stay on ESPN, the deal is with Top rank and ESPN. Fighters will be more inclined to see what happens in purse bids.

Imagine if crawford and porter goes to purse bid and ARUM loses again, ESPN Might start putting pressure on Bob Arum.

If they make money on this fight it ain't overpaying. TR & Eddie were underpaying in that case.

If these Triller guys can increase purses while making the sport more fan friendly & fun for more mfers I'm all for it. I'm super curious to see what they do with a real fight/non-novelty fight.
