How do you score this round?

Fighter A lands 22 punches. 17 of which were jabs. He lands 1 powers punches out of 6 thrown. He is visabally effected on the majority of the power punches landed on him.He is either moving backward or circiling most of round stopping to fight in spots or clinching when hit with power shots. He usually iniates the action with a flurry of jabs.

Fighter B lands 11 punches. 10 of which were power shots. He comes forward the entire round, dosent iniate any clinches .The majority of his power punches effect his oponnent to the point he has to clinch. He blocks the majority of his oppents punchs as he comes in, but he does get hit a decent amount but never stumbles or take a step back.

    Round stats:

Fighter A: 22/66 total punches 21/59 Jabs 1/7 power shots
Fighter B: 11/24 total punches 1/5 Jabs 10/19 power shots

Who do you score this round for and why?

The guy who landed the power punches if he visibly hurt the other guy.

        17 jabs + 1 power punch = 18 punches landed
        1 jab + 10 power punches = 11 punches landed

Fighter B checks out, but the math on fighter A makes little sense.

        Care to elaborate?

it's no secret what fight you're talking about lol.

to answer the question, i choose fighter B for clean effective punching and hurting his opponent.

This fight is not based on any certain fight, just trying to illustrate the difficulty in scoring these type of rounds.

even so, it sounds a lot like a certain fight that happened recently.

how about you? how would you score that round.

i tell you right now with fighter B landing 50% is pretty spectacular.

You're right, it is difficult to score, because while those stats would indicate that fighter B was doing all the damage, the huge difference in punches thrown means that fighter A was controlling the fight. If he is a "boxer", meaning that his style is to move around the ring, then he was making fighter B (who by the description sounds like a pressure fighter) fight his fight.

It's a close call, but I'd give it to fighter A. We'd have to see just how much fighter B's power punches hurt fighter A, especially since only 10 landed, which means they were few and far between. By throwing so many punches, most of them jabs, fighter A stopped fighter B from executing his gameplan, and he was controlling the action. Also, if he is a good jabber, those shots might be doing more than just scoring points, they could also inflict some damage. It's a difficult situation, and I'd have to see the fight, but based on all of the above, I give it to fighter A.
