Again you're simply proving my point.

Is Valuev a great or even a good athlete? No chance but he is a top ranked boxer because he is stronger and tougher than most people.

Don't you think Muhammad Ali, who fought in the 1960's, is ten times the athlete that Valuev is? Is there a single heavyweight around today with Ali's athleticism?

I am still not sure what is athletism, is it some magic combination of dynamic strength, coordination and speed of reflexes?

but the only sport that seems immune to this is boxing. Nostalgia & oldschool bias seems to guard & makes 20s,30s,50s,60s boxers immune to evolution & are hence rendered immortal & invincible.

Ive seen henry armstrong fights, pacquiao & a dozen other fighters from the 80s & up would box circles around & eventually destroy him.

HOW COME BOXING IS THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE?
good post. boxing has evolved and many people here dont realize that

its not that hard to comprehend, im for modern fighters.

              70s,80s,90s,00s>20s,30s,40s,50s,60s. Anytime, anywhere.

Old school farts like to talk about 100 plus fights yet when you look at all those old school great records with 100 plus wins you can see them take on guys with 10,15,20 losses on their records some are 6-22 & have horrible win lose records. But all you hear about is "ohhh every fight was against great hall of fame opposition."

Is there some kind of a magical line in between the 1960's and the 1970's? Boxers just suddenly got better during that time period?

The 1970's were 30 years ago, shouldn't the boxers today be far better than they were then? Just compare 100m records from the 1970's to today.

Fighting 200 times with 10% of those fights being against top competition is better than fighting 30 times with 50% of those fights being against top competition.
